The French Alps were made for mountain biking! And we love introducing all our guests to two-wheeled adventures in the Alps, whether they’re mad about biking or just curious to ‘give it a go’. One thing’s for sure: whatever your level, whatever your taste, downhill, cross country or family cruising - we’ve got it covered!
Biking around high-altitude mountain trails or valley floor routes in the French Alps is a fantastic adventure for all levels and ages; appealing to everyone from cross country ‘enduro riders’ to downhill thrill seekers and family cyclists.
If you’ve ever fancied the rush of riding a full suspension bike on REAL mountain terrain, then let us help you get started this summer.
You can opt for a more relaxed approach to your biking and simply make use of our free ‘Specialized’ bike hire to explore the forested network of valley floor trails or use the lift system and follow high mountain routes marked Green and Blue, (and even Red and Black for harder rides). Why not try a full suspension bike to get the most out of the trails, which for a small upgrade cost, will guarantee you smiles as you soak up the terrain in stunning surroundings.
Hire bikes come included (for free) with your holiday. So just grab one from our racks and go for an adventure. The Specialized Pitch (or similar) is a versatile mountain bike that’ll soak up the valley floor trails and the gentler Green runs. With a light-weight aluminium frame, front suspension and performance-driven parts, it’s the perfect steed for an alpine adventure. We also offer a small selection of road bikes from our main hotels.
If biking is a big part of your holiday and you want to mainly use the high altitude, lift assisted trails then we’d always recommend that you try a full suspension bike.
The French Alps have the best biking recipe, bar none: extraordinary terrain, extensive lift systems, together with serious investment in high-quality bike tracks, trails and parks - all wrapped up in the most amazing scenery! Our hand-picked resorts attract all abilities of rider; each destination offering an unforgettable biking experience using ski lifts specially adapted for bikes, thus allowing you to cover many miles of terrain with consummate ease, whatever your fitness.
Grab your lift pass and head for the hills! Try from an exciting array of specially made Freeride and Downhill courses just waiting to be ridden. There’s lots of variety for all levels, from easy routes for beginner downhillers to moderate trails and steeper courses like the famous Avalanche Cup.
The adrenaline surges as you swoop round banked corners and over whoops and humps following the flow of the bike trail down the mountain. Then get the lift back up and do it all over again! Experts can try more challenging Red or Black trails and you can follow the signposts and pick the trail that suits your ability.
Families are in for a real treat! Explore an array of alpine tracks and trails that lead through forests, alongside rivers and up at altitude…family trails that use the lifts and take in beautiful scenery along the way.
The local biking routes offer a spectacular day out, with lake-side stopovers for lunch and paddle sports or sunbathing to break up the day. Families with minimal off-road riding experience can use some of the local lifts to explore the easier ’family bike routes’ at altitude. You can also try using a mountain guide, (which our reps can organise), who can show you where to go and give you tips and knowledge along the way. We have a selection of bikes for all ages, 4 and up.
All our destinations offer excellent mountain biking and offer an array of exciting cross country tracks, downhill trails and bike parks with plenty of lifts to get you back up to the top again.
Two neighbouring (linked) resorts with the largest network of trails and lifts in the Alps - 850km of trails and 25 lifts. Suitable for beginner to expert riders; and beginner riders can enjoy the lifts for mellow trails at altitude. The lift pass is from €5 per uplift or from €12 per day if you buy a week’s pass.
Again, two neighbouring (linked) resorts but with the benefit of a FREE lift pass for bikers with our Active Packs, (included with all holidays). The trails here are more limited for novice riders, so if you’re new to the sport then we’d recommend Morzine and Les Gets.
