Walking & Hiking in Tignes

And our Professionally Guided Hikes

The walks and hikes in Tignes and Val D’Isere are simply stunning. With an altitude range of 1550m to 3456m the variety of walks really goes up a level. There are just as many walks for families as there are more adventurous options for those of moderate fitness but a penchant for a real mountain experience.

Top Tip: We offer an inclusive guided hike for all guests in our Active Pack. You may choose to join a second guided hike (for free) during your week, by swapping your guided MTN Bike activity

Our ‘inclusive’ Guided Hikes

  • Choose a Discovery Hike
  • Or an Adventure Hike
  • Get up to two (free) guided hikes with our Active Pack

We’ve teamed up with Evo 2 and their professional mountain guides to offer all our guests a choice of guided hikes, which we include for free with our Active Packs. A guided hike is the best way to see the local area and learn about the region from a local guide and these sociable walks are enjoyed with fellow Alpine Elements guests.

We offer two different walking groups with up to 12 guests at a time. A ‘Discovery’ group for families and an ‘Adventure’ group for those who want to hike higher and longer.

Tip: You can choose to join a second ‘inclusive’ guided hike during your week. It will follow a different itinerary in our ‘Adventure’ range.

Discovery Walk (Family Friendly)

  • Allow half a day (3 hr duration of hike)
  • Groups of 8-12
  • Ages 10+
  • €29 with no Active Pack
  • Free with our Active Pack

A guided hike with a professional guide offers a great insight into the local area and is a sociable activity to enjoy with other Alpine Elements guests. This is why we include one for free and you can choose from  a Discovery walk (suited to families) or an Adventure hike which will up the pace and elevation a little.

Discovery Walk:

You will depart from the hotel and enjoy a beautiful alpine walk along the lake, then along trails which lead through woodland and more open alpine pastures the higher you ascend. It also uses mountain pathways and guarantees stunning alpine views of the Tarantaise valley and teems with wildlife, before leading back to the hotel. It will be run as a sociable walk suitable for families with kids age 10+.

Adventure Hike

  • Allow half a day (3 hr duration of hike)
  • Groups of 8-12
  • Ages 12+
  • €29 with no Active Pack
  • Free with our Active Pack

Adventure hikes are a little more challenging but perfectly doable for those of moderate fitness, our first inclusive guided hike (early in the week) will start from the hotel and you will enjoy an increased altitude gain and a slightly faster pace. You can choose to join a second guided hike (later in the week) instead of our guided mountain bike ride.

This hike will likely utilise your lift pass (included on your inclusive MyTignes card) and your guide will show you an epic walk at altitude visiting somewhere like the ‘Eye of the Needle’ in Tignes, taking you to one of the best geological curiosities in Vanoise National Park, with 2,700 ft of elevation gain, lots of wildlife, incredible sights and alternative things to do along the way. Our mountain guides really know how to make a hike into a very fun and interesting experience. After all - they’re the experts!
