Our Mountain Team

Our Mountain Team is the secret ingredient to our holidays! A team of fun, energetic and creative individuals who are there to help you make the most of the area with vouchers for free activities and to help you find the best walks and bike rides or E-biking tours for all abilities. They’ll also look after your children in our kids clubs and give you itinerary suggestions for a great day out.

Our local knowledge

The Alps are vast and the activities to do are almost too numerous to list. That’s why our Active Reps are such an important ingredient to a holiday in the Alps.

Their job is to help you make the most of your stay; book you into some exciting activities and give you some great itineraries for a day out on two-wheels or two-feet. Their tips and advice will save you heaps of time and ensure you make the most of your week (or two) in the Alps.

Our Active Reps

Our Active Reps are a lovely bunch of mountain-mad individuals, picked for their friendly and energetic natures. From the moment you arrive to the time you depart, they will be on hand to make sure you are having a great time (not just a good time!) and seeing all the best bits of the Alps, which are vast and waiting.

They’ll give you lots of free activities to try (as part of our Active Packs) and if you’ve got any energy left, they’ll help you book any extras you’d like to try.

They are specially trained in all things alpine; and will advise you on which activities are best for your taste and ability - what to expect, what to wear, how to find the activities - so you don't waste precious time during your week away.

They also organise our free-and-inclusive excursions like Whitewater rafting, our ‘Cascades’ Adventure, Kayaking, Paddleboarding… and they can hook you up with a Guided Walk or bike ride and much more.

Our Childcare staff

Our Active Club Leaders are chosen for their friendly, kind and outgoing natures, as well for their energy and enthusiasm. They’ll take an active role in caring for, and giving, your child an unforgettable experience. The sort of fun-loving professionals that you can trust to look after your little ones.

Our Active Kids Clubs (4-12) are very popular with parents as they allow children to meet new friends and enjoy new experiences - whilst giving parents a well deserved breather! Kids Clubs run for 5 days which include a Family Fun Day with organised activities - so that parents can join in and do things together with other families.

Bike Hosts & Mechanics

Whether it’s an E-bike adventure, a road biking excursion or a mountain bike ride, our Bike Hosts are invaluable to our programme. They are Cytech qualified mechanics and play a vital role in all things involving two-wheels. Their job is to keep our extensive fleet of bikes rolling and ensure you have a great time finding new trails and having a great day out. Whilst their riding advice is not that of a qualified guide, they can offer you itinerary suggestions for some great rides, so you waste no time in getting to the best trails.

More on Mountain biking

Our Chefs

If you’ve ever whizzed back to your hotel, famished from an afternoon of breathless mountain biking or satisfying kayaking, you’ll know how important your food and drink is when you’re living on a mountain. It’s something our hotel chefs take as seriously as we take the activities.

Hotel Catering

Chalet hosts

If you’ve ever stayed with us before you’ll know that our talented chalet hosts pride themselves on their top-notch food and service, and we love to get praise from happy, well-fed guests at the end of each week.

We hand-pick our chalet hosts for their energetic and friendly natures. Then we train them extensively before each season so we can make sure they deliver cooking you’ll love.

WHY CHOOSE A CHALET

Hotel staff

Our exclusive Alpine hotels are run by our own team of (mostly British) hotel staff, for active families and alpine-loving Brits in summer. You can expect a welcome as warm as can be and a cosy home-from-home in our beautiful summery hotels.

Qualified advice

Our Active reps and bike hosts have experienced many of the activities and biking or walking routes (on our Route Cards). However, they are not professional mountain guides, instructors or formally qualified in this manner.

Their role is to talk about what our activities and Route Card rides and walks are like; and to highlight things like starting points, facilities and restaurants on route and ‘things you can do’ during the excursion. The Cards themselves do give an idea of fitness required, but again this is unqualified.

Our team can therefore provide activity information and suggestions, but their advice is given in good faith, often from printed literature and not to be relied upon if you have a special need, ability or request. We recommend that you seek additional advice directly from our activity supplier or a certified mountain guide if you have a particular concern about things like fitness and suitability of a trail or activity.

As stated, they can provide Route Cards to help you find some great walks and rides in the local area, which have been compiled in good faith, but not with qualified knowledge. We cannot give you advice of a technical nature and ask that you take the time to assess the risks and your suitability for the excursion. And if in doubt, do not attempt the excursion. We also ask that you supplement your Route Card with a map of the area and leave an excursion plan with hotel receptions or your Active rep so we know when to expect you back. We also ask that you take a backpack with water, food, a mobile phone and spare clothing.

Our suppliers like Evolution 2 will visit our chalets and hotels on your arrival day, normally in the early evening, for the Welcome Meeting, to take bookings directly for additional activities and answer technical questions you may have, for example, about the suitability of an activity. After your meeting, (and during the week), our Active Team can give you supplier contact details for activities or take bookings on behalf of the French supplier if this helps you with your activity.
