Great Things To Try

Where is It?

Tignes is part of the protected Vanoise National Park, about 9 hours drive from Calais and under 3 hours from Geneva. The National Park that surrounds Tignes is very pretty and teems with wildlife, rugged scenery and mountain trails galore.

  • Self drives: 8-9 hours from Calais
  • Fly to Geneva (Gatwick, Luton, Edinburgh, Bristol, Liverpool)
  • Flight time: 1hr 20mins; Transfer 2hrs 50mins

The Activities

Tignes is a bit of a gem! Sporty types will love the sheer amount of activities on offer: from lake sports… to mountain biking… walking… and summer skiing on Europe’s highest glacier.

Tignes’ large lake is an impressive centre-point to the resort and great for water sports and the slightly wacky activities it offers (mostly for free on our Multipass). Some nice cafes, sunbathing spots and kids activities run along its shoreline and you can try everything from paddle boarding to human-size water balls and even fly fishing (with an instructor)

Lots of activities are included for free with our Tourist Office Multipass which will keep you busy enough, but if you’ve got any spare time - the area is also renowned for its rock climbing, its horse riding, road biking and glacier walking to name a few.

Mountain & Road Biking

Tignes is basically heaven for the biker in you. There’s a whole heap of terrain to explore - from cross country to and freeride to downhill trails and bike parks; with terrain for beginner riders too. We even give you a free bikers’ lift pass to explore more than 300Km of trails which stretch over into Val d’Isère. There’s more than enough terrain to keep you busy all week and the Vanoise National Park is simply stunning.

Families and beginners

Expect some fantastic beginner and family rides around the lake and valley floor with a few easy rides up the Pallafour lifts. Why not rent a full suspension bike for the day (our Active reps can help you in resort), for the ultimate biking experience!
