A summertime week in Tignes

A typical week at Hotel Tetras Lodge

Tignes lies in the southern French Alps, within the stunning Vanoise National Park. Blessed with abundant sunshine, dramatic alpine scenery, and an exciting choice of outdoor activities, it’s truly a mountain playground.

If you enjoy a touch of luxury with your alpine escape…

Our 4★ hotel is nestled in Tignes Les Brévières, the original and most charming part of Tignes. Quieter than Tignes Centre yet utterly picturesque, it’s surrounded by scenic walking and biking trails immersed in alpine nature.

Here, we offer a more luxurious holiday experience with a dedicated mountain team to help you plan a week full of adventure. Make the most of our inclusive activities and enhance your stay with additional options from our add-on activities range.

For those who like a sunny adventure

Tignes is in the southern alps and enjoys a high sunshine record with a lot of great weather. Its huge altitude range (1550m to 3456m+) allows us to offer our guests a more adventurous and diverse holiday where you can try everything from Whitewater rafting to glacier tours at 3550m. You can even ski in the summer on Tignes’ glacier!

Day 1 - A discovery walk or hike

Grab your walking shoes (or a sturdy pair of trainers), pick up one of our route cards, and head out to explore. Whether you’re in the mood for a gentle lakeside stroll or a more adventurous hike to a high-altitude viewpoint, we’ve got an itinerary to suit every age and ability. From relaxed wanderers to keen explorers — take your pick!

Walking & Hiking

Day 2 - Go for an E-Bike adventure

E-Bikes are guaranteed to get you hooked from the first pedal stroke! Grab an E-bike from our racks — they’re free to use — and our bike mechanics will ensure your battery is fully charged and you have a fantastic itinerary to follow. With an e-bike, climbing hills becomes a joy, allowing you to cover more ground, explore further, and uncover even more of this stunning region.

Day 3 - Altitude Experiences (morning)

A visit to the Grande Motte glacier is an absolute must. With your MyTignes pass — included free in our Active Packs — you can take the funicular railway to the mountain summit and the Panoramic Terrace, where a coffee or lunch at 3,032 m comes with breathtaking views stretching as far as the eye can see. For just €10, you can extend your adventure even further by riding the cable car to the top of the glacier at 3,456 m and experience a true high-altitude alpine adventure.

TIP: Take your adventure to the next level with a glacier hike led by professional mountaineers from Evo 2. Learn essential glacier techniques using crampons, ice axes, and harnesses — an unforgettable way to experience the high Alps up close. Evo 2 will visit the hotel on arrival day or our team can organise this for you in resort.

Altitude Experience

Day 3 - The Lake (afternoon)

While you're up in central Tignes, head to the lake — the vibrant heart of the resort — and make the most of your free session of paddleboarding, pedalo or kayaking. It’s the perfect setting to enjoy the scenery from the water.

Your MyTignes pass (included free with our Active Packs) also gives you access to other lakeside activities like trampolining and air rifle shooting, and entry to the Lagoon leisure centre with its swimming pool and wellness facilities. You can also try archery and E-scooters which are rentable from the tourist office

Or, just enjoy a scenic walk or cycle around the lakeside trail, soak up the mountain views, and stop at one of the many lakeside cafes and restaurants.

Tignes Watersport

Day 4 - Whitewater Rafting

Included for all our hotel guests — and a highlight of the week — this whitewater rafting experience is suitable for ages 8+ and offers a fun, social way to connect with fellow Alpine Elements guests. The rapids near Tignes rank among the best in France, and the rafting centre is nestled in a beautiful riverside setting, with a friendly and welcoming team to guide you through the adventure.

After your rafting adventure, join us at the hotel for a relaxing yoga class to unwind and stretch out. Suitable for all levels, everyone is welcome to take part and enjoy a calm, restorative end to the afternoon.

TIP: Take your rafting adventure to the next level with The Great Descent — tackle Grade 4 rapids (ages 12+) for an adrenaline-packed experience. Our resort reps can help you arrange this upgrade.

Whitewater rafting

Day 5 - Biking or Hiking the High-Altitude Trails

Grab one of our free-use mountain bikes or lace up your walking shoes, and take your free lift pass for an epic adventure across the region. Our resort reps will provide Route Cards featuring a variety of walks and rides, including the stunning ‘Eye of the Needle’ — one of the most photographed (and Instagrammed!) viewpoints in the area.

For those seeking a thrill, try mountain biking on the Downhill trails! We offer MTB lessons for aspiring downhill riders (ages 10+) in Tignes le Lac, where you’ll learn how to use the lifts and safely tackle the trails on a full-suspension bike.

Day 6 - Relax and unwind. You’ve earned it!

After a full week of activity, it’s time to unwind — you’ve earned it! Ease into the day with a leisurely stroll around our beautiful mountain lake, a coffee at a local café, or a gentle bike ride around the village.

In the afternoon, savour lunch in the sunshine at one of Brev’s charming riverside restaurants, then choose how to spend the rest of the day — a friendly game of tennis or badminton in the hotel garden, or perhaps a relaxing spa session followed by drinks in the sun.

Add on extra activities

All of the activities featured on this page are free and included within your standard Active Pack and you’ll have more than enough to do all week. We’d always recommend upgrading your free 3-day MyTignes pass (lift pass) to 6 days from only £12; and you can also buy additional activities locally, like Via Ferrata, Canyoning or horse riding to name a few.
