Check out our new mountain bike and cycle programme for 2023! The Alps were made for biking and we love introducing our guests to two-wheeled adventures: from family riders to downhill thrill seekers.
Come and discover the real French Alps with its array of tracks and trails at altitude or along the valley floor. Why not try your hand at Downhill biking? Our Active team will help you get geared up with a Pro level bike. Whatever your level, whatever your taste, we’ve got it covered!
One thing you’ll need is a good quality, well-sorted bike to ride when holidaying in the Alps and this is the reason we put a lot of care and attention into our bike fleet. Our Specialized fleet of bikes come included (for free) with your holiday. So grab one from our racks and go for an adventure. They’re perfect for valley floor trail riding, resort-level rides and some lift assisted Green trails of the ‘not-so-steep’ variety. You can also borrow one of our road bikes and baby trailers are available too.
At all of our main hotels (which cover our chalets too) we have our own in-house mechanics to look after our fleet of bikes and keep things rolling. If you’re traveling to the Alps with your own bike, then rest assured we have a full repair facility to sort out most ailments, or at least ‘route one’ access to local suppliers who can help out.
Our main workshops are equipped to solve most problems from disc brake alignments to changing bottom brackets, trashed wheels and minor frame alignments. We carry spare cassettes, pads, tyres and other essentials (subject to stock levels). Our mechanics’ advice is free, but their help on specific jobs will require an hourly rate.
If biking is a big part of your holiday and you want to use the high altitude, lift assisted trails then we’d always recommend you to rent a full suspension bike to get the most out of the area.
Full suspension ‘Pro Bikes’ are ideal for all levels of rider and will make riding safer and easier for all levels - even Downhilling Beginners using the green trails. So whether you’re a first timer, or an advanced rider, we have access to the best Pro bike hire shops in resort. But please don’t leave it too late to book a Pro bike, which our sales team can help you with, before you depart.
Biking in the Alps is not just for the grown ups! Each of our resorts offers a plethora or fantastic family rides using the tracks and trails along the valley floor, through woodland and even some using the lifts. You will also find pump tracks and obstacle courses for learners and children in the resort. These great courses offer a safe environment for children and beginners to get to know their bikes and understand basic skills.
Dads and mums will love the facilities on offer, which are of a very high level and serve beginners as much as the experts. The warm weather and lift system also helps to encourage young riders to learn quickly and develop their skills. And everyone loves the experience of using the chair lifts with a bike!
The best bit however is that the bike hire is inclusive with our holidays so you don't have to think about bringing, or maintaining your own bike… our in-house mechanics will keep things rolling nicely.
All our resorts have (free) access to bike parks, pump tracks and obstacle courses. We love the pump tracks and obstacle courses at resort level, because bikers (young and old) don’t need a lift pass and can practice in a safe environment by pumping around banked corners, humps and flowing obstacles. Great for learning some new skills and good fun for kids.
Try one of the many man-made Downhill courses. Let your adrenaline surge as you swoop down banks and berms and humps following the flow of the Singletrack course down the mountain. Then get the lift back up and do it all over again! Many of the lift assisted trails are only for confident riders, but a few of the easy Greens will suit beginners. Do heed the local advice and check out the maps and signposts. All routes are well marked from Green to Black.
E-Bikes can be rented locally from our preferred suppliers, but (for availability) do pre-book if you can, and speak to our expert sales team for more.
