Tignes

Tignes 1550 is the original ‘old town’ of Tignes — quieter than the main centre and beautifully picturesque, with a lake in front of our hotel and stunning walks and bike rides right on the doorstep. From our 4★ boutique hotel, we offer a more luxurious holiday, with inclusive activities designed to give you a truly rounded experience of the Vanoise National Park.

Tignes sits in the southern Alps and enjoys a higher sunshine record than many other alpine resorts. Its vast altitude range, from 1,550m to over 3,456m, allows for a truly adventurous and varied holiday — from white-water rafting and paddleboarding to downhill mountain biking for beginners and experts, and even summer skiing or mountaineering on the glacier.

“With so much on offer in Tignes, the hardest part is choosing what to do!”

About Tignes

Tignes is unique: Alpinists love this protected national park for its walks, nature and culture. Alpine sporty types will love the sheer variety of activities on offer, (you can even try glacier walking or summer skiing!). Our holidays run from Tignes Brévières, which is a bit quieter, very pretty and, allows us to run a more exclusive holiday for the more discerning alpine lover.

Great Things To Try
  • Walk to the Refuge Martin for lunch

  • E-bike around the lake

  • Whitewater rafting on grade 3 or 4 rapids

  • The Altitude Experience (Tignes Glacier)

Why choose Tignes

Tignes is truly unique. Alpinists are drawn to the protected national park for its outstanding walking, nature, and mountain culture, while more sporty types love the sheer variety of activities on offer. Our holidays are based in Tignes Brévières, a quieter and particularly picturesque village, allowing us to offer a more exclusive experience for the discerning alpine lover.

  • More diverse range of activities than any resort
  • You get a free biking liftpass! (A 3 day pass is €108 in Morzine!)
  • A great resort for families with older children ages 12+
  • Free use of our E-bikes
  • Family rooms save up to £259

More than 50 activities to try

With its impressive altitude range, Tignes offers an exceptional variety of activities — from lake sports and white-water rafting to summer skiing and glacier walking. You can also try via ferrata on Europe’s most famous routes, horse riding, golf on Tignes impressive course, mountain biking, fly fishing, paragliding, or even launch yourself into the lake from the giant slide, (a firm favourite with the kids!)

We include several great activities for free, with additional activities available locally from just €25.

For Alpine Lovers

Tignes 1550 is perfect for nature lovers, with our hotel set in a peaceful lakeside location and direct access to superb e-bike rides, rock climbing, and classic walks — including the must-do hike to Refuge Martin (which starts from our hotel) for a high-altitude lunch.

Venture higher with our inclusive Altitude Experience, taking the funicular to the glacier for a snowline trek or downhill mountain biking using the lifts — all easy to access and included with your free biking lift pass.

Families, Kids & Teens

We’ve designed our holidays in Tignes Les Brévières to appeal to families with older kids aged 8-9+. We don’t provide an all-inclusive Kids’ Club. Instead, we’ve created a bespoke collection of activities with expert guides and local providers to offer you more premium activities for you and your kids.

Mountain & Road Biking

Tignes is basically heaven for the biker in you. There’s more than 300kms of biking trails from Green to Black grade which span into neighbouring Val d'Isère and a free bikers’ lift pass with our Active Pack, so you can cover many miles without ever having to push your bike uphill! There’s more than enough terrain to keep you busy all week and the area is simply breathtaking: with bike parks, learning zones, kids parks and superb shops and mechanic facilities.

Tignes also hosts the Tour de France and you can cycle up the TDF section from our hotel front door in Les Brévières, up to the Chevril dam/lake. It’s very scenic and starts as a Col road with very little traffic. This is just one of many great road rides in the area.

One of the most scenic bike routes is from Tignes Le Lac, back to Les Brévières (with Lake Chevril in the background). It suits all riders competent in trail riding on a full-sus bike, which you can rent locally with our Active Team.
