Alpine Elements Opening Plan, Summer 2020

The French Alps are busy getting ready to be open in June, with a lot of good feeling and positivity from local Tourist Offices, activity suppliers, guides and hotel and restaurant owners. In typical fashion, our mountain friends are all super keen to welcome tourists back to the wide open spaces of the Alps this summer.

The flowers are being planted (by the truck-load!), bars, cafes, chalets and hotels are being aired and reopened; and mountain bike shops gearing up for a glorious summer of sunshine, alpine fun and fresh air.

July 1st Opening

At Alpine Elements, we have introduced a plan to open our chalets and hotels from July onwards, and our staff have been waiting in earnest (for too long now!) to make it a very special time for those fortunate enough to be able to travel out to the French Alps.

Yes, there will be some changes - though none that will significantly impact your holiday - and in fact, we think the changes will only make it better!

There will be a general capacity restriction, with special focus on transfer coaches, mealtime planning, public areas (lounges), use of leisure facilities and activities planning so that guests can still enjoy the mountain, its open spaces and the very broad range of activities which will be available.

Our staff will be rigorously retrained to implement robust new cleaning standards and hotels and chalets will offer the best possible protection against infections during these unusual times.

Hotels and Chalets

Our hotel and chalet capacities will be reduced, (unless a chalet is privately booked), and our experienced staff will be living in our properties where they can, so that we can help maintain the highest standards.

Hotel restaurant and lounge planning will enable us to limit the number of guests in bars and restaurants at any one time by running a multiple of sittings, instead of just the one. Tables will not be shared by separate bookings and be set at a minimum distance of 1.5 to 2 metres apart.

Comprehensive new cleaning practices are to be implemented to provide the best possible protection for our guests, with protective masks for our staff and a good supply of antibacterial gels throughout our properties. All practices will be strictly in line with the new guidance from the French Administration. Enjoying energising activities in fresh mountain air is what it’s all about in the Alps! A particular benefit of our activities is that they all take place outside, in secluded mountain regions and are led by conscientious instructors and guides who will reduce group sizes and practice safe distancing rules. They will also provide protective equipment (masks/gloves) where necessary, particularly on any sharted transport.

Certain activities may require ‘closer contact’ or a partner, and these can often be organised so that you are teamed up with members from your own ‘Booking Bubble’. That is, your fellow travellers or family members from the same holiday booking. Read more on how our activities will run.
