Opening our Hotels & Chalets

Alpine Elements has introduced a plan to open its hotels this summer in the French Alps, from July. There will be a general capacity restriction, with special focus on transfer coaches, mealtime planning, public areas (lounges), use of hotel facilities and activities planning so that guests can still enjoy the mountain, its open spaces and the very broad range of activities which will be available from late June to September.

Our staff will be rigorously retrained to implement robust new cleaning standards and hotels and chalets will offer the best possible protection against infections during these unusual times.

Hotel & Chalet organisation

Distancing

In public areas such as lounges and restaurants, all employees and guests will be expected to keep a distance of 1.5 to 2 metres from each other. For example, in our hotel restaurants: A multiple of sittings will enable greater distances between tables and fewer guests in the restaurant at any one time; tables in restaurants will only be cleaned when guests have left them; options for meals to be served as room service. And so on.

Personnel

Staff will work together in fixed teams in order to counter possible infection chains. Where possible, food and beverages will be served to guests by staff wearing protective masks.

Capacity adjustment

Hotels & Chalets

Our hotel and chalet capacities will be reduced, (unless where a chalet is privately booked), and our friendly and outgoing staff will be living in our properties where possible, so that we can help maintain the highest of standards.

Restaurant & bar

To limit the number of guests in bars and restaurants. Capacities will be severely reduced. Tables will not be shared by separate bookings and be set at a minimum distance of 1.5 metres apart. We’ll also be trialling alfresco dining where we can. All our hotels (and chalets) have lovely gardens and outside seating to enjoy warm evenings outdoors.

Extension of service hours

So that we can provide sufficient distance and space between all guests, the opening hours of restaurants and other hotel facilities will be extended and numbers limited at any one time. Guests will be able to pre book slots in hotel restaurants and leisure facilities with earlier slot-preferences given to families with younger children. Chalet breakfast and evening meal service times will be extended and in all properties we will offer alfresco dining options when conditions allow.

Health & hygiene

Disinfectant / Antibacterial dispensers

The number of dispensers will be significantly increased so that guests and staff can disinfect their hands at all the important contact points. For example, any public area or location where food and drink is served, in hotel/chalet lounges, spa areas, in bedrooms and on transfer coaches.

Room & public area cleaning

Comprehensive new cleaning practices will be implemented to provide the best possible protection for our guests. All bedrooms will be thoroughly deep cleaned before the arrival of guests and again during every guest change over. Bedrooms will not be cleaned during the week, however ensuite bathrooms will be given a mid-week clean and fresh towels provided. Daily cleaning will be focussed more robustly around the chalet or hotels’ public areas with special attention given to appliances and fittings like TV remotes, bar counters, door handles, lifts and stairways.

Restriction of self-service

Self-service areas such as breakfast buffets will be reduced to a minimum. Wherever possible, food and beverages will be served to guests by staff wearing protective masks.

Our Supply Chain & Kitchens

All of our suppliers have been risk assessed to ensure they have appropriate Covid19 H&S policies in place. And our kitchen staff are qualified to Food Hygiene NVQ level 2 and rigorously trained to new COVID standards.

  • Deliveries will be dropped outside properties, thereby reducing the need for suppliers to enter properties or have physical contact with staff
  • No physical signatures necessary for deliveries.
  • Staff to wear gloves / masks (full PPE) when receiving supplies & goods
  • Food packaging to be washed and cleaned prior to storage
  • External packaging is to be removed and disposed of before goods are stored in properties.
  • Food handling staff are qualified to Food Hygiene NVQ level 2
  • Kitchen food safe processes follow HACCP policies
  • Food handlers are always required to wear gloves/masks and change gloves if they move to a new food station.

Playing Safe

We expect all our guests (that’s you!) to practice safe distancing and make their own judgement as to whether they are comfortable with our activities, the hotel, our catering provision and to make it known to staff if you would like a change.

We will expect you to provide your own PPE for the week, and to take responsibility for its use. Although our third party activity providers and our hotel staff will monitor distancing rules it is your responsibility to ensure that you adhere and take all precautions to remain safe. You must understand the risks involved and that accidental contact / infringement of the distancing rules can happen at any time, even with the best of intent.

The content of this plan is intended as a guide and will be implemented where possible, along with any further changes which may have to be made in order to align with local standards or laws.
