Free-use mountain bikes

Morzine chalet guests can get a free bike upgrade with current offers

The Alps were made for mountain biking and one thing’s for sure - whether you’re a beginner or a family of bikers looking for a (very) fun day out - then you’re going to want to give biking a go! Our free-use bikes are lightweight, front suspension bikes, maintained by our team of mechanics and available all week for you to use.

About the bike

  • Suitable use: Gentle trails & valley floor trails
  • 100mm Front suspension fork, disc brakes
  • Large wheels & extra wide tyres for alpine terrain
  • Sizes: S, M, L, XL.  Age 9+ (smaller child bikes also available)

The Specialized Pitch and Scott Aspect 950 are lightweight bikes with chunky tyres, performance-driven parts and disc brakes. They make up the core of our Free-Use Bike Fleet and will soak up the valley floor trails and the gentlest of high mountain routes. These bikes are the perfect steed for an alpine adventure along the valley floor.

Free-use bikes for hotel guests

We have a large fleet of bikes with more than enough to go around and bikes are free to use  for all our catered guests. Bikes are based at our hotel workshops where they are maintained by our own team of mechanics. If you are a hotel guest, then just visit your workshop each day (during workshop hours) and your bike will be freshly fitted to you so you can enjoy a two-wheeled adventure, perhaps using our Route Cards for ride suggestions.

Free-use bikes for chalet guests

The same large fleet of bikes is available for all our Morzine chalet guests to enjoy. You can visit our workshops each day to pick up a bike for the day. Early bookers even get a free bike upgrade so that they can keep their bike at the chalet, without having to visit our workshops each day.

'Reserve a bike' upgrades

  • £79 per week: ‘Reserve a Bike’ upgrade
  • Free ‘Reserve a Bike’ Upgrade for Early Booker chalet guests
  • Book before travel, with our sales team

Each day you will have to visit hotel workshops to pick up a free-use bike. This is easy for hotel guests, but more difficult for guests of outlying chalets.

You can however reserve your own bike, so chalet guests can take the bike back to their chalet for the week, without having to visit our hotel workshops each day to pick up/drop off bikes.

It also suits hotel guests as it will mean there is no waiting in busy periods for your bike to be fitted to you each day, and no risk of non-availability of your frame size. Non-availability is rare, but can happen in peak periods. Your bike will have your name on the frame, with the settings unchanged, so you can just grab it and go each day without a fresh PDI check and fitting.

It is advisable to ‘Reserve a Bike’ before you travel. We cannot make refunds if you decide not to make use of your reserved bike on arrival.

Where you can use our bikes

Our free-use bikes are versatile bikes with a light-weight frame, front suspension and performance-driven parts. They are perfect for valley floor trail riding.

You may use our bikes on two of the gentlest lift-assisted trails that follow our Route Cards in Morzine: the Fantasticable ride and the Les Gets loop ride, where steep off road tracks are avoided. In Tignes you cannot use these bikes on any of the lift-assisted trails. In both resorts they are really intended for valley floor trail riding only.

If you would like to use the green to black graded Downhill trails then you will need to hire a full suspension ‘Pro bike’ with strong brakes and suspension.

Bike availability

Bikes are available from our main hotels, so you can grab one from our racks whenever you choose. There are plenty of bikes to go around and if you have to wait, then it’ll only be for a short time. Our Active Staff will ensure you get more than enough use of a bike during your week.

If you would like to reserve your own bike to use all week, (with your own settings unchanged), then you can pay a supplement for our ‘bike upgrade’ for 6 days’.

Mechanic Support

In each of our main hotels we have a fully kitted bike-workshop and trained bike mechanics to keep your wheels rolling. If you notice a fault, then take the bike straight back to them. Don’t worry, you won’t be charged for accidental damage or wear n’ tear if you use the bikes in accordance with our allowable use guidelines.
