A Typical Week in the Alps

(How your week could look)

There are dozens of Alpine activities for all ages to discover and our Active Team will help you make the most of your week away, ensuring you get to do everything you want, and more! So, whether it’s biking new trails or soaking up the view from your chalet's own  hot tub, our team will deliver as much adrenaline as you can handle.

Here’s a suggestion for a typical week in the mountains. There really is so much on offer that your only problem might be trying to fit it all in!

Day 1 - Mountain bike rides

Try a bike ride along the river Dranse, it’s great for all ages and you can get your biking legs warmed up on a leisurely river-trail. Kids will love the woodland activities you can do along the way; and a picnic by the river is always popular.

Or, head for the hills and try a more adventurous ride at altitude, following one of our epic Route Cards!

After lunch, why not venture up to the Nyon waterfalls - on two wheels or two feet. Or grab your free lift pass and head up the Pleney gondola for spectacular views, walks and coffee. There’s also resort based activities, (free on your Multipass, or low cost) like ice skating and swimming or the Luge.

Day 2 - Lake Montriond for SUP and Kayaks!

We recommend visiting Lac Montriond to perhaps try some wild swimming, a woodland walk and of course to make use of our inclusive paddleboarding and kayaking excursion!

Our Active Team will be at the lake to meet you and you can choose to either take out a stand up paddleboard or a sit-on-top kayak . Each session lasts for about an hour and if you have any energy left you can extend your time on the water with the kayak centre. It’s a beautiful lake and our guests love to explore this tranquil waterway.

After the session, why not go for lunch at a lake restaurant or walk up to the goat village (a village of goats) which is about a one hour walk from the lake, up towards Lindarets and well worth it. For a shorter walk then a loop of the lake on the footpath is a beautiful walk to do with younger kids.

Day 3 Whitewater rafting day trip

A highlight of the week is our inclusive Whitewater rafting excursion which we include for all guests. It’s a great social event and you’ll have a blast with other Alpine Elements guests.

Everyone enjoys rafting, whatever their level of fitness and it is suitable for ages 8+ (confident swimmers). It is run by experienced guides who pilot your boat and you’ll be picked up after breakfast for the transfer (by coach) down to the rafting centre. Younger children will be looked after by our childcare or Active Team in a specially extended Breakfast Club.

In the afternoon...

...why not try a walk or a bike ride? We have plenty of Route Cards to choose from, and you can use your free walking lift pass to access the mountain lifts for an afternoon hike; or stroll to a mountain cafe.

Whitewater Rafting

Day 4 - ‘Cascades’ High Adventure

Day 4 can start with our excellent (free and inclusive) excursion to ‘Cascades Adventure’, which is a tree top adventure park at the Nyon Waterfalls. The activity lasts for just over 3 hours and there are courses for Kids aged 6-13 and an Adventure PLUS course for confident 13+ and adults.

This was one of our most popular activities for 2023 and as an inclusive activity for our guests - it’s another sociable excursion to be enjoyed with other Alpine Elements guests. It’s also an enjoyable 30-40 min ride or walk up to the waterfalls to start the activity - which is a popular alternative to the free resort bus.

Afterwards, you can take lunch in the Cascades cafe or order a pack lunch from our hotel and walk to the Lac Mines D'or which is a stunning, bucolic alpine lake and the start point for many a beautiful walk. Our Active team can give you a Route Card for these walks.

Day 5 - Try the Fantasticable Day Out

This is a great day out where everyone (even kids age 5+) can get to use the uplifts and either bike or walk at altitude and see the real mountain!

Take the Super Morzine gondola from the centre of town, then the Zorres chairlift, tickets from €5. At the top, follow the signposted trails down to Lindarets. It’s a great walk or ride (downhill all the way) via bike trails for more experienced or tarmac road and fire road for tentative and young riders.

Optional: From Lindarets, take the Chaux Fleurie chairlift to the Fantasticable - longest zipwire in Europe. Or just relax in the sun and enjoy the cafes of Lindarets.

Continue your journey down, via the Goat Village which is a great stop for lunch, ice cream and souvenirs. Afterwards, continue down to lake Montriond via trails or the mountain road and finish the day sunbathing, wild swimming or kayaking. If you've any energy left, walk the remaining distance home or take the free bus.

Fantasticable

Day 6 - Join a professionally guided walk

Day 6 could be a good day* to join a professionally guided walking group. We offer a Discovery walk or a more Adventurous hike, (usually using your free lift pass), and your guide will show you the real mountain and its wildlife.

In the afternoon…

…just chill and try some resort-based activities like the luge, tennis or ice skating - many of which are free on your Multipass. Or just grab a bike or a pair of trainers and go explore the mountains following one of our superb Route Cards.

Another Route Card we really like is to walk or bike using the lifts over to Les Gets and via the lake for swimming or the inflatable obstacle course, known as the Wi-Bit. It’s a great activity for all ages. Ask our Active Reps for our Les Gets Wi-Bit Route card.

As an alternative, which not try a premium activity like Parapenting, its our most popular add-on activity or try a half day motorbike course (E motorbikes) and learn to ride a scrambler over mountain terrain, all ages 8+
