Snow Assurance

At Alpine Elements we cannot guarantee snow, but it is our mission to endeavour to get all our guests skiing and boarding, whatever the weather! All our resorts are chosen for their reliable snow records and high altitude status. Most of our resorts have the benefit of access to glaciers (for glacier skiing) which ensure snow until May. Morzine does not have a glacier but it does have a very northerly location (most northern in French Alps) and with the back up of Avoriaz there is a clean history of good snow; and ski slopes remain open until the penultimate week in April, which for 2023 is the April 23rd.

Our Resort Stats say it all

Tignes 3456m
Val D'Isere 3456m
La Plagne 3417m
Les Arcs 3417m
Meribel (3 Valleys) 3562m
Morzine-Avoriaz 2756m

Snow Assurance

Snow conditions can change dramatically overnight, so if conditions are exceptionally poor then we will do our best to change you to another resort and/or chalet within our programme, subject to availability.

Furthermore, when you book an Alpine Elements holiday then we will arrange for transport* to another ski area which is deemed fit for visiting skiers and boarders  if the lift company, tourist office and ski schools decide you are not able to ride or ski the area or resort in which you are staying. One metric we often use is whether the new ski resort or area has more than 25% of its runs open.

Transport will be arranged to a local resort where skiing/riding is deemed better than in your own resort, and which is less than 2.5 hour drive away. This will be subject to the new resort allowing additional skiers to visit and availability of lift passes for non residents. You may need to pay a transport supplement in resort (directly to the transport company we arrange) in order to make use of this service. Our Snow Assurance policy is a pledge of administration on our part, to do all that we can to facilitate getting you skiing, but of course extra costs may have to be met.

Our Snow Assurance covers skiers and snowboarders for limitations in snow cover (including artificial snow) causing your chosen holiday resort to completely shut. It does not cover partial closures and cross-country skiers. It does not cover lifts not being open due to extreme weather events like high winds, adverse weather or too much snow.

In some cases the alternative resort might be in another country. In order to take advantage of this option then non UK nationals must make sure that they comply with the local passport regulations for the country where the alternative resort might be located.

Additional costs

You will need to cover any additional costs required for transportation to the new resort, any accommodation, ski and board lessons, lift pass or ski and board hire etc. Any additional costs (if required) may have to be met locally and such services will be subject to availability. It may well be the case that the resort in which you are staying will transfer liftpasses for little or no extra cost and/or provide a refund for your existing pass for ‘lost days’ skiing. As part of our pledge we will assist where we can in any claims you wish to make. We would recommend you have appropriate cover for lost days’ skiing, cancellation and curtailment of your holiday with your travel insurance policy.

Resort Opening

Please be aware that for holidays before Dec 20th and after April 1st there may be limited lifts operating in resort, especially in some of the lower resorts. Please check directly with the Tourist Offices for updates to this information. Furthermore, our Snow Assurance policy will not operate before and after these dates.
