The Schools We Use

Our ski and board schools are tried and tested. We have carefully selected them to ensure they provide a great service for you, and that they use English-speaking instructors with a passion for their sport and the patience to deal with your learning ability.

Our preferred schools provide a full range of lessons to cater for all abilities: from young children and tentative adults to junior racers and powder seekers. So whether you’re looking to slide a turn for the first time or perfect your carving – we’ve got you covered!

Booking and Availability

We’re here to help every step of the way but the availability of lessons (especially in peak periods) can become limited. It always makes sense to pre-book as soon as possible so you can make use of our ‘On the Snow’ service and save you money and time by fast-tracking you to the slopes with the minimum of fuss!

Learn to Ski or Board in Just 3 Days!

This may sound like a bold statement, but with the right care and attention, learning to ski or board is not as hard as you might think. And yes, you’ll normally have the basics mastered in just a few days.

Using our specially selected ski and board schools; and in our chosen resorts which have a good balance of beginner runs, we can have the majority of our guests up and skiing or boarding after only their first or second day; and linking basic turns by their third day.

By the end of the week, you should be exploring much of the local ski area under your own steam and venturing further afield without the need of an instructor.

Children & Skiing

We believe that the quality of ski school for your children should not be compromised. Learning to ski should be fun all the way; and it’s so very important to get it right. After all, we do not want to put them off as they take their first ‘tentative’ steps of their skiing careers. Our hand-picked ski schools are specially chosen for their friendly outlook and excellent, English speaking instructors and we’ve used them for years, so we know what to expect.

Children from the age of 4 can learn to ski and younger children (under 4) can get a taste of the snow and sliding around on skis by using the free ‘magic carpet’ ski lifts, available in all resorts; or the specially made ski gardens and snow crèches run by the ESF (Ecole du Ski Francais).

Choose your level

We have found that our five half day packages of lessons provide skiers – young, old, beginner or expert - with the best combination of value-for-money and ‘free-ski’ time to practice what they’ve learned. We have used this trusted formula for the last 24 years and it has been found to have had the most profound improvement on progression and positive feedback from our guests.

On reservation, you will be asked about your lesson level and what you hope to achieve, and we can help you select the right school for your needs.

Our ‘On the Snow’ Service

A service run by our ski hosts to make your time on the snow easier, but is reserved for guests who book their Extras through us. Our ‘On the Snow’ service will help you get started in resort and help with any niggles with passes or equipment as they arise.

Alpine Elements Ski hosts and reps will be on hand from the moment you arrive to answer any questions you may have. They will deliver pre-booked lift passes straight to you and fast-track you (where we can) through the ski hire shops so you can get on the mountain faster and start practicing thzose slide turns!

Our reps will also help with any equipment changes and lift pass problems and assist you with your ski and board lessons when using our specially selected, ‘preferred’ suppliers.

Morzine Extras

France

Morzine is a very pretty village with excellent facilities, numerous bars and cafes with boutique shopping to keep the non-skiers entertained. A nice day trip away from the ski fields is to Saint Jean D'aulps. This charming, almost cute, little resort is part of the same ski area and connected by the area's shuttle bus. The traditional nature of Morzine is very evident in its facilities, architecture and frendliness, resulting in a very pleasant village to stay in. Being quite a large summer destination as well as winter mountain resort there is lots to offer almost all year round and, it has the right amount of British prescence. Socially it is one of the livelier resorts in France, offering late night venues for partying or relaxed drinking and dining venues for the more sedate and family orientated skiers, as well as pizza and other take aways.

Tignes Extras

France

Four Ski Villages
Tignes is twinned with Val d’Isere and both benefit from sharing the same ski area. It’s made up of four villages at different altitudes, each with its own atmosphere. In Val Claret and Le Lac, you’ll be in the heart of the action – Val Claret is at the top next to the glacier train and Le Lac is the next one down. Both offer bustling bars and clubs. If you prefer a quieter base, choose Le Lavachet (next to Le Lac), or Les Brévières - the original ‘old town’ of TIgnes. Both offer doorstep access to the best slopes, but are further away from the glacier train - which suits the experts who want to sample the Grande Motte. However the glacier is easily accessed in just one or two lifts from Brev’ and Lavachey. About the Skiing & Boarding
The slopes in Tignes are characteristically wide, long lasting and highly efficient, all served by a modern Express lift system. This allows for some effortless skiing for all abilities, less slope congestion and not so much waiting in lift queues! If you like off piste and snowboarding then you’ll also love the seemingly endless off-piste itineraries in the area, and everyone loves the long descents and excellent snow quality which characterise the resort.

La Tania Extras

France

La Tania offers expansive skiing for all levels. The resort is not only part of an immense ski area, but a very varied one which suits all levels. Family beginners and Intermediates are well suited to the networks of easy cruising runs that line the resort. La Tania also has some of the finest descents and the longest runs in the whole 3 valleys. La Tania's slope quality brings visiting skiers from all other resorts.

Around La Tania

With a traffic free centre La Tania is very popular with families and the novelty of being able to ski or board through the resort! You can also ski to the shops, the bars and even the ski lift! Quite a rarity in any sprawling ski resort nowadays! There are excellent facilities which include indoor climbing, tenpin bowling, ice karting, dog sledding and ice skating. Live music and late night venues can be found most nights. Ideal for families and skiers as you can ski right through the resort to our hotel! The resort has plenty of inexpensive restaurants and cafes for lunch (most ski-to-door) and some lively apres ski bars and late night venues. Our Hotel Montana offers convenient apres ski and happy hour prices for guests. If you want a livelier bar then head out to the Ski Lodge, Chrome bar or Taiga bar. These late night venues will then get going again after 10pm and run until the early hours!

St Anton Extras

Austria

From exclusive areas such as the cruising paradises that are Lech and Zürs to the sunny aspect of Sonnekopf's powder runs, there is enough to challenge any level of skier. Intermediates and Advanced skiers are probably the happiest in St Anton, but the welcome for beginners is warm.

Meribel Extras

France

The Après-ski in Meribel is one very big plus point for this resort! The large British presence in the resort, ensures some interesting and exciting nights can be had! The shear variety of bars and restaurants ensures that all tastes and appetites are catered for. O'Sullivans, formerly known as Dick's T Bar is known throughout the ski world, and a great place to start (or finish!) the night. Meribel also has two good nightclubs for the party people in your group! There are some quieter venues for those easy going nights where food and wine are more important than packed bars and loud music. The variety in Meribel is very good indeed, try Barometer for a not-so-heavy dose of après-ski and then wind your way up to the village square for more lively entertainment.

La Plagne Extras

France

The snow sure nature of La Plagne is helped by the glacier skiing at Plagne Bellecôte, which extends up to 3250 metres. From here you will find an up to 2000m vertical drop, with some Black and Red slopes together with a seemingly endless supply of powder, and some of the longest descents in France. Our Chalets in La Plagne are mostly ski to door or very close to the slopes. They are also just a short, easy ski to the ski school meeting points - so convenient skiing is definitely something which you can look forward too.

Around La Plagne

La Plagne Centre (2000m) has fallen foul of the dreaded concrete touch but the huge amounts of snow seem to make it look fresh and pleasant all season round. As you would expect it is the largest of the Villages in La Plagne and is a Mecca for shops, bars and restaurants. 1800 has by and large escaped the planners concrete nightmares, with more of a chalet-style, and a warm and friendly atmosphere, with a handful of good bars and restaurants and some ski shops. Ski buses run up to Plagne centre until midnight, this all helps give skiers the perfect mix: lots of apres ski and very pleasant surroundings"

The detail

Passport Photos

Please bring a passport sized photo to resort. Some ski passes do not require this however lift ticket offices can be unreliable and are known for “changing their minds”! To be safe, be sure to bring one with you and you will not have to look around resort for a photo booth!

Lift Pass Duration

All passes are arranged to commence the day after arrival so that you can get the standard 6 days on the mountain during any one week and 13 days for two weeks. Should you wish to ski on the day of your arrival or departure then you must arrange the extra day or half day pass separately with our reps on arrival in resort. You can do this quite easily on arrival or the transfer coach with us.
