The French Alps are situated quite a lot further south than people imagine. About 3 hours below Paris is a good indication! During the summer months, the temperature will often reach 40C, and more commonly sit around 32 to 34C in mid/late July and August. The mountains are quite changeable and their altitude means it is essential to pack high factor sun cream, as well as a light anorak for rain showers, which, if around will often pass very quickly to make way for sunshine again.
