Tignes is famous for its excellent high altitude snow and the famous Grande Motte Glacier which has year-round summer snowboarding and stacks of powder and fresh snowfalls all year long!
We have many chalets in Tignes le Lac but many of our catered chalets are also part of an exclusive new development in Tignes Les Brevieres. Tignes Les Breveieres is the original old town of Tignes and so it has all the same high altitude slopes - but is a much prettier place to stay, and in fact one of the more characterful high altitude resorts we have seen.
Brevieres village is a very charming and pretty place with very snow sure slopes that lead into the village. Guests can still enjoy the premium skiing of a Glacial super resort without the ugliness that goes with it!
At an altitude of over 3,550m and France’s highest ski-able Glacier, Tignes is an almighty ski resort that is firmly mapped out as one of the world’s highest and most snow-sure resorts, with some excellent terrain for everybody from advanced powder seekers to beginners. It shares the same area as neighbouring Val D’Isere and has fantastic facilities with a “Super-Resort” status.
Tignes offers some of the best riding in the Alps! It really cannot be put any simpler... People come here for the sheer amount of accessible powder and of course the height of the ski area - which means there is always so much of the white stuff! When it snows else where in the Alps - it dumps in Tignes.
Brevieres, where many of our chalets are based, offers one of the best home runs we have ever ridden, and it also offers most of the resorts tree cover. This is important because when the weather comes in, you can still find some shelter and contrast in the trees and keep yourself skiing and boarding in excellent surroundings, and close to our chalets, while the rest of the resort may be experiencing a white-out!
Tignes offers wide, motorway style skiing and boarding for all abilities. The slopes are very well thought out and there are many Express lifts to enable quick up-lifts to high climes. This may be a high resort but there is just as much for the beginners and inters as there is for the advanced.
Advanced skiers and boarders will love the val d'isere side of the mountain with its characteristically steep descents into Val d isere.
Beginners will of course fine great facilities and easy slopes to learn on, as this is a premium resort and the schools offer some of the best English speaking tuition.
Tignes Le Lac has a wealth of night-time options from its hectic bar and club scene to the more down to earth venues if you are just looking for a quiet beer or two. Brevieres has just a late night few bars and a club, it is more chilled but still great fun in the evening. The restaurants in Brevieres are excellent and range from homemade, kiln-cooked pizza, pasta and of course traditional steak and Fondue.
