Megeve is a very pretty ski resort nestling close to Chamonix and linked with Les Houches it creates a fantastically large ski area
Rather a posh resort, very pretty and certainly very fashionable for French skiers. This very French resort has a lot of owner-run ski chalets and so the British all inclusive ski crowd are few and far between – very much skiing a la Francaise as they stay!
The skiing is quite low – 2300 metres but well linked and the whole ski area offers 420kms of skiing with a vertical drop of 1100m. The top lift is 2353m and the resort height is 800m. There are about 114 ski lifts in total.
The Mont Blanc ski pass that serves the area covers up to 700 kms of skiing and resorts such as Les Contamines, St Gervais, Courmayeur and of course the mighty Chamonix!
The resort suits beginner and intermediate skiers with its easy slopes and a very low pressured atmosphere. In town you will find boutique shopping with excellent, (if expensive), restaurants and cafes. Our tip – go catered!
As a final bonus, Megeve is only 1 hour from Geneva airport making it a suitable destination for ski weekends and convenience skiing.
