Val Thorens or "VT" as it is known in the industry is the highest of all the prestigious Three Valleys resorts and so tends to attract a premium. Resort prices can also be a tad on the expensive side, but you will get the guarantee of good snow from December to April. Having said that - you will get an even better guarantee of snow and more reasonable prices in Tignes.
Expect most chalets in Val Thorens to be of the high-rise variety. Although pleasant inside and in the main newly decorated - this is a high altitude resort and with that space is a premium so chalets tend to be built up rather than out!
Our chalets in Val Thorens are all very similar chalet-style apartments within a larger residence that shares a pool, sauna and health club downstairs. These chalets are not ski from door, but one can ski right back to the chalet if you are of a level beginner 2 weeks and up. (ski lifts and shops are 200 metres away)

Chalet Well: 9 bed These chalets a have pool, sauna and health club which is ideal for family skiers and friends wanting extra comfort for their holiday. |
Each of our Val Thorens chalets serves breakfast, freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea and 3 course evening meals with wine. Each chalet has an open fire place, balconies and ensuite bedrooms with lovely mountain views. There is an open plan kitchen, dining room and lounge and skiers are given an excellent location and feel really in the thick of things.
Val Thorens serves up a typical atmosphere that you will find in most high altitude resorts. That is, oodles of snow, few cars but high buildings and higher costs of eating and drinking around resort. But then this is perhaps where an all inclusive ski package should be considered. The ski slopes are really intermediate standard and up, beginner facilities are present but certainly limited really to the very lower slopes.
