We have hand selected some of the finest English speaking ski and board schools with the highest level of coaching.
Let us organise it all for you! We will make arrangements, and ensure things run as smoothly as possible, all we need is your level of ability at the time of booking. We do recommend booking in advance for reasons of availability.
We will be on hand to assist all guests that book through us, and ensure that any issues with your ski or board school are resolved immediately.
Our five half day packages of lessons* are felt to provide you with the best combination of value-for-money with coaching-time and free-ski time. We have offered this trusted formula for the last 18 years and it has been found to have had the most profound improvement and positive feedback from guests. Two or three day sessions can be booked by special arrangement.
A lesson in the morning, (or afternoon), with time on your own to practice new skills at your own pace is something we know works well. If, after day one you feel you want to move up or down a level then we should be able to help in resort.
You have never skied before, either on snow or dryslope.
You have never snowboarded before, either on snow or dryslope.
You have tried skiing before for a few hours and can ski in a cautious snowplough.
You can side slip on your heel and toe side edges, and link basic turns on green slopes and slopes like the Snowdome
You can link snowplough turns with reasonable control and bring skis together parallel at the end of a turn on green and blue slopes.
You can link turns on green and blue runs and carry the speed through turns
You are nearly parallel but often still use a small plough to start the turn. I have skied for a few weeks. Aim: To parallel ski more challenging pistes, bumps, red runs and easy blacks.
You are happy riding red runs and fast on easy slopes with basic switch turns
You are a competent parallel skier, have done a few, or more, weeks skiing and struggle with bumps or steep icy sections. Aim: To be skiing parallel with more confidence on steeper groomed runs and to start more black runs.
You can ride on all grades of run and do basic carves on easy runs. I’ve done a bit of off piste, but want to do more and to start riding small park jumps and rails.
Level 5 (private lessons)
You are an advanced parallel skier (approx. 8-10 weeks experience), and can ski all reds, and blacks, providing they’re not too steep or bumpy. You would like to start learning off piste. Aim: To improve your wider skill-set in all types of terrain
Level 6 (private lessons)
You can ski most terrain and enjoy off piste runs. More than 16 weeks experience. Aim: To develop skills and adaptability to challenging and varied terrain
Lesson levels are a guide. An individual school may have their own grading. Please contact us if you are unsure.
Children from the age of 4 or 5 years can learn to ski, and our hand picked ski schools and benefit from a low-pressure atmosphere in which to learn, and an extensive network of easy, well-kept slopes to help make progress quick and easy. Our specially selected resorts are renowned for their beginner suitability, some even have free beginner lifts or “magic carpet” lifts and excellent ski gardens and ski-crèche facilities for younger children, so that learning to ski is fun all the way!
For first time skiers. It is not uncommon to see beginner kids tackling blue runs with ease after just a week! Kids learn snow ploughs on nurseries, green and blue runs and taking lifts safely.
Level 1(age 6-12)
For children with a week’s experience, and can take drag lifts. An easy start, just snow ploughs and then bigger and better things! Aim: strong and confident plough turns on greens and blues.
Level 2(age 6-12)
This is all about fun! Taking bumps, varied terrain and going faster around the mountain. The emphasis is on fun all the way. Aim: To start skiing parallel.
Level 3(8-13 yrs)
For children with a few week’s experience, nearly parallel but often still use a small plough to start the turn. Aim: To parallel ski more challenging pistes, use poles, take bumps, red runs, easy blacks and small jumps
Level 4(10-13 yrs)
For competent parallel skiers on all pistes: green to black, with a few, (or more), week’s experience. Aim: To be skiing parallel with more confidence on steeper runs, tackling icey sections and to start powder, jumps and more bumps.
Spaces are always limited in our schools, so we recommend booking lessons as soon as possible and preferably when making your initial holiday reservation over the phone. If booking online, simply select the appropriate “Ski Lessons Extra” at check-out.

Start times cannot be guaranteed, and promises cannot be made from the UK. Most lessons run for 2- 2½ hours.
Children & tuition: Please note that while many ski schools advertise that they accept children, some from as young as 3 or 4 years, it is the ski school instructors’ assessment of the physical & learning capacity of the child that determines whether they are able to join the programme.

Booking your first ski or snowboard holiday can be complicated enough at the best of times! Which resort to go to? What extras do I need? What to wear and what will it all cost?Well, we are here to make your life easier: To help you choose the best time to travel, the best resort and ski extras, and above all to help you save money and ensure you absolutely love the experience from the moment you pick up the phone to us!
1. A holiday package, with flights and transfers (all ours include these essentials)2. Your Lift pass (Local area) for 6 days3. Ski or Snowboard hire, with boots for 6 days4. Lessons, at least 5 half days is recommended
This may sound like a bold statement, but with the right care and attention, learning to ski or board is not as hard as you might think, and you will have the basics mastered in just a few days!Using our specially selected English speaking ski and snowboard schools and instructors, we have the majority of our guests up and skiing or boarding after only their first or second day, and linking basic turns by their third day.By the end of the week they will more than likely be exploring much of the local ski area under their own steam and adventuring further afield without the need of an instructor!
The perfect time to travel with a Niche Holiday Company is when you are getting to grips with the early stages of learning to ski or board. We provide a personal service run from unintimidating chalets and hotels. Our staff are all very sympathetic and passionate about their snow sports, after all we had to go through the learning curve ourselves a few years ago, so we know just what it’s all about!
...Or trust in our hand-picked ski schools! It is not surprising that the standard of tuition can have a big effect on the overall enjoyment of your holiday. We leave nothing to chance, and hand-pick our ski schools according to resort, to ensure you get the best results, the nicest instructors and continue to have fun all the way.
Don’t be tempted with designer ski-togs, they go out of fashion and will cost a bomb! Instead go to a reputable shop for quality clothes and invest in layers. You don’t want to be freezing cold on the mountain or will end up going back to the chalet early! Focus on breathable, (moisture wicking), and thermal layers, good quality gloves, (Mittens are best), and quality sun glasses or goggles which are better as they don’t mist up. Hand warmers for kids are a great idea!
An hour or so spent in a lesson at your local ski slope will give you a good head start and help ensure you don’t waste valuable time learning the basics on the real McCoy.
Some time spent at your local gym or cycling to work will help build core muscles in your legs and help you stay on the slopes for longer.
Don’t be tempted to hire the best ski and boot package or to go for an Extended Area Lift pass. Economy Skis are softer and more flexible and will make it easier to learn to turn. More Performance Skis are stiffer and harder to use. Extended Area passes will cover a wider area than you will manage, so long as you have 150Km’s of piste – it will be more than enough!
Spaces are always limited in our schools, so we recommend booking lessons as soon as possible and preferably when making your initial holiday reservation over the phone. If booking online, simply select your level and the appropriate “Ski Lessons Extra” at check-out.
