The snow over the past few years has rivalled and in some cases even bettered that in North America. In addition, Europe’s ski slopes are only a 1 hour flight away from London, so perfect for a short ski break or for maximising your time on the slopes on a week-long ski holiday.
Remember – if you’re used to skiing in North America with their ‘inbounds’ and ‘out of bounds’ off piste system, remember that if you are off the piste anywhere in Europe, even if just to the side of the ski run, you are responsible for your own safety as these areas are not patrolled nor avalanche protected.
Off the slopes, Europe’s ski resorts are famed for their après-ski. Piste-side bars serve happy hour beers often accompanied by life music, and the party starts early and goes on until late. You’ll also find plenty of fabulous restaurants serving local specialities on the slopes by day and in the town centre after dark. An authentic Savoyarde fondue is a culinary experience not to be missed.
