Premier skiing in a world class resort.

As part of the Tarantaise’s Trois Vallees ski area (along with Meribel and Val Thorens), Courchevel has access to 1,304 acres of winter sports playground. This stretches from the Mont Blanc massif in the North, South to the Les Ecrins massif. It tops out at 3,266m in Val Thorens, with the Pointe de Thorens.

600 kms of piste.

With over 600 kms of runs spread of 400 square kilometers, the Trois Vallees is split roughly 50:50 between green & blue and red & black runs. For beginners there are two main areas for you: ‘Zen’ and the fun zone. There are four ‘Zen’ zones at Courchevel, aimed at childern, families and novices, and are set away from the main pistes. There you’ll find a mixture of 27 green runs and 44 blue runs. These are specifically designed to get you skiing, and improving, in safety. For the more experienced skiers there are 38 red and 10 black runs.

Extensive lift system.

The Trois Vallees prides itself in having a state-of-the-art lift system. Of the 180 lifts, 2 are cable cars, 33 are gondolas and 38 are high speed chairlifts (which detach from the cable, making mounting and dismounting far easier). Courchevel boasts 563 snow canons across it’s ski area, with 26 piste-bashers to maintain the slopes in the best possible condition. With ten mountain bars and restaurants, the resort aims to look after it’s skiers as well as it’s snow!
If it’s rails that you’re after then Courchevel is the place to find them, at the aptly named Courchevel Railpark! The Loze piste has Courchevel’s Ski-cross/Snowboard-cross course, if you want to tighten up your competitive race instincts over the turns, berms and woops.

Snow guarantee

For the winter season (which this season runs runs from the 4th of December 2010 to the 25th of April 2011), the Trois Vallees guarantees snow cover over the whole of the network! With 85% of the area above 1,800 metres, the amount of natural snow fall is impressive. Conditions are maintained by 80 piste machines, which work from 5pm until 7am.
