Val Thorens is one of the highest ski resorts in the Alps, and excellent snow always makes it easier to learn, so this is a great destination for the beginner skier. The beginner slopes are right next to the town, so you’ll spend less time in transit and more time on the slopes. As with all Alpine Elements resorts, you can choose between 3 or 5 days of lessons, and either half or full day tuition with ESF, the renowned French ski school.

For many beginner skiers, the best option will be 5 half days of lessons: this will ensure you have the instructor time to progress, but also allow you time in the afternoons to spend with your family or friends, practising the skills you’ve learnt and perhaps seeing a bit more of the mountain.
For the intermediate skier, you have the option of 3 half days to brush up your technique, or alternatively an intensive 5 full-day course which will really take your skiing or boarding to the next level. Val Thorens is part of the enormous 600+km Three Valleys ski area, so once you are confident on those reds and blues you’ll have a huge amount of terrain to enjoy.
