Questions such as will I get enough time on the slopes?, will my child enjoy the ski school?,will they want to come back? and will they like the food? may arise.
We can help you choose the right childcare facilities - whether your children are ready for ski school, or if you are looking for a nursery or they just want to make snowmen all day!
Evening baby sitting can be easily arranged if the well earned apres ski on offer appeals.
Please don't hesitate to speak with your chalet host if your child requires particular food as this can be very easily accommodated. We have earlier mealtimes for children enabling you to relax during your evening meal once the children are in bed or happily mingling with other younger guests. Baby equipment such as high chairs, sterilizers and booster seats are are all pre-bookable so will be ready for you upon arrival.
Pool & Health Club facilities
Many of our ski chalets have swimming pool and sauna access which is a wonderful addition for kids who still have energy after a day on the mountain. Many parents do not realise how useful a pool is for entertaining kids during apres ski time! Try our Chalet des Neiges Les Arcs or Chalet Altitude in Val Thorens and Chalet Josephine Tignes or Chalet Waterloo Tignes. See more information on our Luxury Family Holidays page
Ski to door
With younger children it may be helpful to choose a chalet which is either ski to door or very close to the nursery slopes. Toddlers do find long walks in ski boots more hard-going than adults. 90% of our chalets are ski to door or within 150 metres of the ski slopes which provide easy access to ski schools. See our list of ski chalets for more.
Ski Resorts
A child friendly ski resort is one that offers a good range of ski schools, creche, nanny facilities as well as easy and gentle ski runs, minimal drag lifts, wide open slopes and ski to door or convenience skiing. The resort atmosphere is also important and a good child-friendly resort will offer entertainments in the evening and a safe and pleasant town centre without too much nightlife or a raucous apres ski crowd. We would recommend Morzine, Les Gets, Les Arcs, Tignes Brevieres, La Plagne 1800, Sainte Foy and Meribel
You may have been skiing for years or perhaps just started to learn with the children but either way you will find most resorts now welcome families and have the facilities for children and beginners that you need. In our opinion the smaller less known resorts do tend to have a friendly more secure atmosphere with the added bonus that its harder for your child to lose their way!
There are quite a few things to take into consideration but Alpine Elements staff are very able to guide you through the process making it as stress free as possible for you.
