With another gloomy winter of recession on the cards it is little wonder that skiing Britons will be looking towards the slopes for some respite this winter. But of course high on everyone's agenda is cost!

Well, we at Alpine Elements have 4 top ways to beat the credit squeeze – and if you are an ardent skier perhaps you won’t mind conceding on some of the finer detail in order to get your annual ski fix?

Ski in January
Skiers often associate January skiing with cold weather, icy snow and general post festive gloom! Well, one couldn't be further from the truth.

The snow is plentiful, and the temperatures - whilst cold - keep it all nice and dry, so the white stuff remains in excellent ski-able shape. Clear skies can make make the higher altitude resorts exceptionally chilly, but nothing that will bite through the sort of technical ski clothing we are used to wearing nowadays.

As with any post-peak period, ski holidays and ski packages start to benefit from cheaper flight and operational costs, and of course the slopes are delightfully crowd free. See our ski deals page for up-to-date offers.

This is great news for beginners too. Crowd free slopes will help you to learn in a stress free environment and ski schools will be less busy with smaller ski groups and more devoted instructors giving you their undivided attention.

Hotel ChamoisBook a Chalet-Hotel
Our second top tip for cheap skiing is to book into a chalet-hotel holiday like the Hotel Chamois in Les Gets . These larger properties are more basic than their chalet alternative, and economies of scale alongside a licensed public bar allow Tour Operators to drive down the bed price.

Prebook your Ski Hire
Third is to book ski hire in advance. Alpine Elements can offer up to 20% off pre-booked ski hire and snowboard hire, ensuring you get the best prices of the season. By reserving your ski hire in advance we can negotiate cheaper prices for our guests, and you do not have to pay fo it until 8 weeks prior to departure!

Early Bookiing Ski Dealsski deals
Finally, we would recommend that skiers keep an eye out for early-booking ski deals. Although these are fewer in availability this season due to pressure on airfuel and the overall demand for high altitude resorts. We do offer £70 off all our holidays for clients booking on-line, thus saving us the admin!

Late Ski Deals
Unlike times past - the late ski deal is not so common, and skiers are finding those cheap deals harder to come by, and the 2010 season will be no exception. More Tour Operators are reducing their bed-stocks, first as a reaction to the recession and second in a effort to raise the cost of their holidays,  which went for a lower average selling price (ASP) in 2009. See Ski Packages for more info.

Ski Weekends
The ski weekend is fast becoming the popular way to ski in a recession, and often skiers will ski harder over their precious 4 days away and get as much out of the mountain as the more casual weekly skier!

We offer an online quotes and reservation system for ski weekends and midweek ski breaks that start from £309 - and include flights, accommodation and catering. Our booking system is linked in with live Easy Jet flight prices - giving you flexibility and the cheapest prices in the market place. See our sister company igoski ski weekends for more
