Terms:
Non Residents, Surcharges & Exclusions

Bike hire for non residents will incur a £45 surcharge. All pro bikes will require a surcharge of £25 for Chamonix, £45 for Les 2 Alpes and Tignes. Our bikes are not available for Italy or Austria, free or rental. However bikes can be rented locally.

Duration
This mountain bike has been loaned to You for 3 consecutive days from the date of handover detailed above, after which time the bike must be returned in the same condition as at handover. Your rental period may be extended by 1 day, subject to bike availability.

Daily Hire
Daily bike hire must be done from resort

Use
Our Free bikes (Fire Mountain & Bolt) are light-use mountain bikes, suitable for only Green and Blue resort trails and valley floor trails. They are not intended for any steep, rocky or rooted descents. These bikes must on no accounts be jumped, dropped or ridden hard. They must not be taken down any of the Downhill bike tracks. You have the option of renting a full suspension, “Pro Bike” from Alpine Elements for more serious mountain riding.

Damages
In our experience, bikes and armour do not sustain chargeable damage through normal use. If guests decide to treat them disrespectfully and as “hire bikes” then this is most likely where such charges will have to be met. Please remember that our complimentary bikes are free and we would expect them to be treated with extra care.

The Bike must be returned in the same condition as at handover. You must meet the costs of any damage sustained to the bike whilst in your care, and in resort - before departure. You are responsible for any loss or damage to additional equipment hired at the time of rental, including but not limited to helmets, protective armour and bike locks.

Storage & Theft
Bikes must be stored in the designated secure lock up as instructed by Alpine Elements Reps. You must look after your bike at all times, and not leave them un-attended or unsecured in a public area, or whilst on the mountain. Any theft of bikes whilst in your care is your responsibility and any cost of replacement, (set by Alpine Elements at a wholesale rate), must be met in resort before you return to the UK. You may rent a bike lock by the day from Alpine Elements.

Bikes checked back into the designated lock up area are then the responsibility of Alpine Elements, and cost of theft will not be passed onto you. We are only responsible for loss of bikes if the loss results from our negligence. You are responsible for loss of bike arising from your negligence.

Wear Tear Parts

You are allowed up to 1 tyre and 1 set of brake pads, any additional items will be charged at whole sale rates. You will not be charged for labour unless mechanic time exceeds one hour.

Faults & damage
You must not use the bike if there is a fault or if a fault develops whilst in your care. You must inform us of any damages as they occur so that we can return the bike to its recommended standard for you to continue to use.

Our Responsibilities
We have maintained the bike to at least the manufacturer’s recommended standard. We assure you that the bike is suitable for light mountain use (Green and Blue trails) at the start of the loan period. You must inform us of any damages as they occur so that we can return the bike to its recommended standard for you to continue to use.

Hazardous Sports
You accept and understand that cycling and mountain biking are both hazardous activities. You accept the risks for death and injury. You will exercise due care and attention at all times. You have appropriate Travel and Medical insurance in place for the duration of use.

Cancelling Equipment hire
Please note that if you wish to cancel your pre-paid bikes or protective gear then you must do so 28 days before departure to claim a full refund. Equipment cancelled within 28 days is subject to a 30% charge, and within 14 days, a 100% charge. No refunds apply for equipment that is not used or partially used
