Mountain Biking - Lake Garda

Lake Garda has often been voted as having the best Mountain biking in Italy. And quite a statement! However when one considers its all round suitability to bikers of all levels and in some of the most stunning scenery in Italy, you can appreciate why the press dub Garda as "the best there is".

Try leisurely biking around the colourful shores of Lake Garda itself, or take the gondola lift up for some more extreme downhill action. You might want to make use of our professional guides (Hotel Lido, Santoni and Sole) to experience some wonderful tracks and trails for all levels.

The hills and cliffs are riddled with military tracks, tunnels and bunkers originating from the 1st world war thus offering some exhilarating biking from the expanse of natural terrain that line the mountains and valley floor.

Torbole sul Garda
Torbole (where our hotels are located) is the only place on Lake Garda to be if you are a mountain bike or watersports nut looking for direct access to the terrain! It is a very sporty place, but also laid back with a great "surfy" and mountain bike vibe. The people are friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere very chilled but full of likeminded people. Torbole also suits families very well with its close proximity to the beaches and well priced restaurants and bars.

Singletrack Paradise!
Unlike the French Alps, Garda is not littered with Chairlifts, cable cars and manmade Downhill courses. There is one cable car that accesses lots of terrain but ski lifts are not the attraction here. The attraction lies within the quality & variety of rides, coupled with the atmosphere, sunshine and staggering lake side & mountain scenery.
Our Guided rides in Garda are natural, scenic and hugely satisfying - just like mountain biking should be! Rides are not too hard and you will not be taken on rides which are beyond your depth or level of fitness - with the careful planning that goes into our riding programme. 

Garda does attract heavily rigged Downhill riders - but in the main, the local terrain is geared for Freeriders and XCers for singletrack riding within beautiful surroundings. The area offers watersports and a cultural diversion that will suit all the family and not just the bikers!

Bikers will find some thrilling rides and a lot of riding is found at 2000 metres with stunning vertical cliffs and lake scenery below. Local bike hire is easy to find and there are endless routes at altitude or around the lake shore for the not-so-gung-ho! There are numerous route maps and itineraries available on line.

The "Bike Festival" at the end of April is the most important international event that marks the start of the spring biking season on Garda. Thousands of bike lovers meet in Riva to talk and test-ride bikes. Technical advice from the pros and over 200 exhibitors with 300 brands are on show.

Bike tours and lake shore cycling to take in Olive groves and Vine yards are a popular choice with couples and families and will take in lunch and cafe stops as well as wine tasting along the way!
