Val d Isere

Val d’IsèreOverview
Val d’Isère is a world renowned resort, and twinned with the mighty Tignes has some of the best high altitude skiing in France. “Val” is also known for its après ski shenanigans and hedonistic party life. However, it is just as well suited to families that perhaps want a more sedate stay in resort.

With a top lift altitude of over 3,250, Val d’isere boasts some very fine Glacier snow, and a link to the neighbouring super-resort of Tignes provides some extensive skiing. Tignes and Val d’Isère combine to create the famous Espace Killy ski area which is all included on the standard full area pass.

Skiing Valdisere
The skiing is suited to all levels and tastes; an abundance of green and blue rated beginner and intermediate slopes feature all over the resort, but steeper gradients and powder runs are in equal supply. Like neighbouring Tignes, Val has some very wide and easy “motorway skiing”, with long lasting and highly efficient runs suited to all levels. The lift system is very fast and modern and will whisk you up the mountain resulting in shorter lift queues!

Snowboarding Valdisere
The snowboarding in Val d’Isere is also highly regarded. Le Fornet is absolutely magical in the powder and offers clean and open powder fields from high on the glacier. Beginner snowboarders will also find many well linked, easy trails and more sedate powder descents to have a whirl on. There are fun parks with half pipes, boarder cross, and jumps of all sizes so that beginners can give it a go!

Intermediate and expert skiers and boarders will also be able to benefit from our Ski and Snowboard Clinics which provide advanced tuition and training for everything from powder and bumps to Freeriding and jumps. See p129

Beginners
Val d’Isere offers plenty of runs to suit the beginners on the lower slopes. However there are also many well linked easier runs higher up the mountain so beginners are not restricted to the nurseries.

Resort life
Val d’Isère offers boutique shopping and a vibrant café culture. It is also teaming with night life! The après ski kicks off with a thump from about 4pm with some very lively establishments! The resort has over 50 bars and restaurants and great shopping too!
