
Overview
At an altitude of over 3,550m, Tignes is an almighty ski resort that is firmly mapped out as one of the world’s highest and most snow-sure ski areas. It has excellent terrain for all abilities: from beginner and cruisers to advanced powder seekers. Tignes shares the same area as its prestigious neighbour Val D’Isere, and has world class facilities with a “Super-Resort” status.
Snow Sure Slopes
Tignes offers summer skiing through July and August and one of the longest ski seasons in the Alps. It has a very high skiable glacier and even the base-level of Tignes is higher than the top lifts in many Haute Savoie ski areas! So it is hardly surprisingly it has the best snow record in the Alps.

Skiing in Tignes
Tignes has lots of excellent Off Piste and the slopes are characteristic of wide, open motorway pistes which allow easy and efficient skiing. Tignes gets its fair share of fresh snow which makes skiing these motorway pistes a joy for all abilities.
The slopes in Tignes have been purpose built and are extremely well kept, which allows for some effortless cruising or carving on mogul-free pistes. Perfect for fast cruising intermediates and progressive beginners.
Intermediate and Advanced skiers and boarders will enjoy Tignes' Glacier to base descents on fast red and blue runs, which are fantastic in the regular amounts of fresh powder snow that the glacier gets. Try also the black mogul fields leading down into Vald'isere and the excellent "La Sache" which leads down to our premium catered chalets in Tignes les Brevieres. .
Beginners
The slopes that charactarise Tignes are very wide and well kept, therefore congestion and bumps are minimal on the main connecting runs. This is great news for the beginners! The nature of slopes in Tignes allow for miles of effortless cruising which is accessible to skiers of every ability.
Snowboarders
The snow park in Tignes is legendary! It has permanent shapers and is cut and groomed by the resorts very own "Pipe Dragon", which is an asset that many resorts don't have. The park is maintained daily and so it is usually in very good condition, with a range of jumps for all abilities. The Freeride snowboarding in the resort is also excellent and very well suited to all abilities. Wide motorway pistes and the plethora of fresh snow fields remain un-tracked even for days after a snowfall.
Resort life:
Tignes is a bustling resort which is always well above the snow-line, and therefore presents a very atmospheric ski experience for its visitors. It may be one of the finest resorts in the Alps, but it is a purpose built resort too. Thankfully its appearance is helped by the fact it is always layered in so much snow, however Tignes Les Brevieres is the prettier old town of Tignes where our catered chalets are situated. It has lovely old architecture, and an appearance and atmosphere that is simply delightful. Nightlife in Tignes is very good indeed, with some late night bars and pubs on offer.
