 Chamonix centre

Overview
As Europe’s largest alpine resort, and a year round mountain town the services and facilities of Chamonix are simply superb! The mountain terrain is famous and Chamonix the most talked about and internationally recognised resort in the world.

It has lots of intermediate and beginner slopes as well as some of the most heart pumping off-piste anywhere in Europe. Set under Europe's highest mountain, Chamonix has an exciting feel to it and staggering views of Mont Blanc!

Snow Sure Slopes
Chamonix is home to Europes’ highest mountain (Mont Blanc) and so its guarantee of snow is never in question. Added to which, Chamonix has 90% of its slopes above 2000 metres and an abundance of reliable North facing slopes - which also ensures snow cover remains very good until mid May.

Chamonix Skiing & Boarding
It is the Off Piste and Freeriding potential in Chamonix that has made it world renowned as a very thrilling resort to ski or ride. There is a lot of very challenging terrain for the intermediate and expert wanting to push thier skills and have a bit of adventure too. There are 40 or so long runs which will suit the intermediates and some of the most testing terrain in the world for the experts.

Chamonix is also renowned for its on-piste terrain, steep descents, and a network of easier reds and blues that will push any skier or boarder during their wek.

Equally, the intermediates are furnished with lots of slopes and off piste areas on the meadows at Le Tour, Brevant and Les Houches. Here, skiers will find some great runs and it must be said that to ride the slopes of Chamonix for a week will do wonders to the progression of your skiing and riding, whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced level skier!

Freestyle
Snow Parks now feature quite well in the area with the 2004 introduction of the first decent park in Chamonix. Aside from the man-made snow park there is unbeatable off-piste potential in the area with natural snow-filled halfpipes that can be found all over the valley.

Beginners
Although Chamonix is renowned for it's "extreme" terrain, there are some very good beginner and intermediate slopes in the area, and the Ski/Snowboard School of Chamonix is renowned for being highly efficient. The nursery slopes are just a walk away from the town centre at the Planards area, so do not be turned off if you are a beginner, because there are some great facilities on offer.

It must also be noted that of further benefit is the fact that the Chamonix valley has a plethora of high altitude beginner slopes, so even the novice skiers and boarders can learn on fresh snow which will really boost the learning curve.

Chamonix Town
Chamonix has over 200 bars, shops and restaurants and some truly wonderful places to dine. Chamonix restaurants do international and local cuisine very well indeed and local hot spots such as Munchies in Rue Moulin do fantastic food and service. Try also La Caleche on the main strip for French atmosphere and great steaks.
