Women’s Ski Jumping at the Winter Olympic Games?

News that the International Ski Federation (FIS) is putting pressure on the International Olympic Committee to include Women’s Ski Jumping in the Sochi Winter Olympic Games in 2014, will be welcomed by tour. There had been high hopes that it would make the Vancouver Games, but that came to nothing. It may also help the Women’s Ski Jumping-USA (WSJ-USA) as it struggles for financial survival.

2004/5 saw the first Continental Cup for women, but they had to wait until 2009 and the Liberec competition before they appeared in the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. Although, they had already competed at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships as far back as 2006. Next season sees the Ladies Team event at the Junior World Championships, with a Ladies Ski Jumping World Cup tour in 2011/12
