Tignes opens for the Autumn season this weekend

Tignes, high up in the Tarantaise region of the French Alps, is gearing itself up for the start of winter – in September! The high altitude resort will be opening from Saturday the 25th, all the way through to May the 8th. At this early stage in the season it’s usually the various ski teams who are out training that you’ll see.

Initially the usable terrain will be based around 3,000m on the glacier, to the top of the cable car (3,456m). Further areas should open up as conditions allow. It is expected that the entire Espace Killy area of Tignes and Val d’Isere will be fully open from early December. However, with snow forecast down in Tignes Le Lac (2100m) from Saturday and into the week, there may be an even earlier opening.

For some early full season deals, including Free Liftpasses, check this Tignes link.
