Photo - St Jean Daulps, Dec 2.
The weekend and early part of this week has seen some serious snowfall hit the French and Italian Alps with up to 110cms reported in some areas! This is a staggering amount of snow to fall in just 3 days. The harbinger to a good snow season perhaps?
Most resorts are opening earlier this year as skiers are clamouring for the slopes in a bid to get some fresh snow before Christmas, and to make use of the cheaper priced mid December weeks. We call these our “Trainer weeks” where staff are new to their jobs. The Dec 13th week is more than 80% busier than last year, but some deals are still available!!
Photo was taken at 12.30 this afternoon (December 2nd) from Saint Jean D’Aulps in the Portes du Soleil.
Saint Jean D’Aulps is one of the lowest resorts in the Alps with an altitude of only 1450 metres and look, on December 2nd it’s ready to ski!! The slopes are even freshly groomed too! Have you ever seen so much snow at this time of year!? If only i wasn’t bound to my office chair right now…
