The last snow fell on Thursday the 4th March and conditions are looking very good indeed, with firm pistes and up to 2 metres base depth in even the lowest resorts in the French and Italian Alps. It is colder than normal for March thus ensuring conditions will remain especially good for the foreseeable future. Nevertheless, blue skis and sunshine also prevail, making for some very pleasant March skiing
No more snow is forecast this week, however conditions will remain bright and sunny. The stability of the snow will also remain good due to low temps – being further helped by a cold Foehn wind which is predicted to blow later this week.
Stashes of powder-snow are still being reported close in resort local areas, but are become tracked. Skiers and boarders will have to trek further afield for good off piste and of course we would always advise taking a guide, Good off piste routes with dry snow can still to be found due to the low temps that have been in existence this past week.
