The January snowfalls are forecast to increase hugely, with some resorts expecting over half a metre to fall in one day! The start of next week should herald clear skies and superb skiing & snowboarding on the deep new powder and freshly prepared pistes. Here is a more detailed snow report across select ski areas in the French and Austrian Alps.

Following 16cms snow fall forecast for Morzine today, Wednesday should see some good ski conditions, with blue skies, between the snow showers, likely during the day. From Thursday, mid-teens to 20cm falls are likely. The start pf next week should be clear skies across the area, after a few more cans on Monday.
As with the other Tarantaise resorts, wind speeds should rise quickly from 10-20 km/h to 40 km/h on Thursday night/Friday morning, then lessen rapidly back to 10-20 km/h again. Les Arcs should have marginally better snow falls than La Plagne, with nearly 60cms on Sunday. La Plagne is looking at over a metre as the clear skies return on Monday.
Mèribel, La Tania, Bal Tjorens and the other 3VS resorts are likely to most of their fresh snow arrive on Thursday. Gentler winds, peaking at 25 km/h are expected to stay around 5-10 km/h for most of the wrk, turning from North Westerly to Southern Easterly by next week.
St Anton is expecting snow every day until at least the middle of next week. The majority up to 70cms falling between Wednesday and Friday. Winds will be gentler than the French resorts, from 0km/h to a maximum of 20km/h, and from Westerly to Easyerly as the week progresses.
