Ski and Snowboard Music

Ski and Snowboard Music

ski and anowboarding musicThe debate opens:  do you listen to music on the slope or not?

My next door neighbour is staunchly anti-music on the slopes. He loves to hear the sound of snow scrumpling beneath his skis and prefers to keep alert for the sound of the hill collapsing beneath him in a possible avalanche or for an Olympic skier zooming past from above.

These are not things that worry me much. His computer background has a picture of him flying 10 feet in the air, skis crossed as he spins about gracefully. I have a similar photo of myself, except I’m completing the same manoeuvre across the ground, minus the grace and intention.

I don’t board off piste and skiers approaching me from above have to treat me as an obstacle, a bit like the snow plough skiers in that skiing game that came with early PCs.  Once they’ve sprayed me with snow I always hope a yeti will come out and eat them but it never happens.

Paul and I agree, in this instance music is obligatory.

But banish Shackleton, put away HudMo’s Butter and don’t even think about Flying Lotus. I’m crazy about trip hop, 2-step and everything exciting that’s happening with music at the moment, but imho it’s just too intricate for one-eared listening and sticky situations.

So, find a sturdy set of headphones, put on your dirty face and warm your ears up with this playlist: (sorry we can’t provide an actual download).

The accounts office got a little excited when we started talking about this; Kiss-Love Gun was thrown out there along with Judas Priest-Turbo Lover and soon people were standing on the desks air-guitarring, slinging their heads back, eyes closed as they wailed out their favourite epic tune.  What I mean to say is, I doubt this is the last tracklist to go up here.
