The heavy snow in Scotland has given a great boost to an already buoyant Scottish ski season. Last season was the best sine the mid 1990s, with nearly 375,000 visitors; it has been estimated that £37.5 million were brought into the Scottish economy during 2009/10.
The Nevis Range ski area at Aonach Mor expects to open on weekends from Saturday the 4th of December, and fully open from the 18th of December. Caringorm is open now, with the last train up running at 15:30. There is an avalanche risk so users are recommended to stay on the pistes; Train, M1 and Ptarmigan Tow are open. The Lecht are reporting Eagle, Osprey, Grouse, Robin, Wren and Buzzard all have good coverage. Nothing open at Glencoe yet, but a good base has been built up so, a good season looks likely.
