The second stop on the Freeride World Tour, at St Moritz, saw Britain’s James Stentiford force his way into the top 5 amongst an elite bunch of snowboarders (including 3 times World Freeride Champion Xavier de la Rue). The long steep descent (550m) gave as many different lines as it di conditions (powder to thin cover to ice to exposed rock and back again!). The ‘boarding event was one by Matt Annets of the USA, followed by Mitch Toelder, Flo Orley, and Max Zipser (all from Austria), then came Stenti. The skiing competition went to Sweden’s Henrik Winstedt, who was followed by Torgrim Vole (Norway) and Seb Michaud (France). The previous round’s winner, Aurelien Ducroz could not live with Widstedts extreme & smooth line and trailed home in 16th.
Next up is just for the Men Snowboarders, at Crystal Mountain in the USA, on February the 7th for The Northface Masters.
