There’s almost no better way to start the new year than snuggled up on the sofa watching some complete nutters hurl themselves at nearly 95km/h to fly 141metres through the air onto icy snow. Garmisch-Partenkirchen is the place to be, and if you can’t, then book your favourite TV seat and join the 30,000 crowd at the Austrian hill.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen is the second of the ‘Four Hills’ ski jump series. The first is Obestdorf (German) on December the 30th. Innsbruck on January the 4th and Bischofshofen on the 6th (both Austria) round off the series.
Check out your local TV listings and Eurosport for a good dose of someone else’s danger and (potential) suffering. If you feel the need to check out the Garmisch-Partenkirchen hill, here’s a link to the three webcams.
