I am writing this 5 days into management training. Me and Ross have both agreed that it feels like we have been here for a lot longer, (in a good way!) here’s a brief description of the last 5 days…
After meeting all the other managers at Geneva airport we drove in a couple a mini buses to Les Gets and to the Hotel Chamois. After a couple of hours to recover we had a welcome meeting from Ralph and then spent the evening sharing stories with the group and sampling the chalet food with the excellent chef -Alex.
The next three days were a crash course into what our roles entail, the most difficult part for me being getting my head around the accounts system. After asking a lot of questions I feel I finally grasped it, but it’s good to know Doug is on the end of the phone for any help once we are in resort!! We spent our evenings in the hotel bar, one night venturing out to Bar Bush – the only bar open in resort at the moment. We have an excellent group of people here and Alpine Elements have recruited a great team with some valuable skills and experience.
The most exciting day has been today when we began to discuss resort logistics as, me and Ross are off to Meribel tomorrow to sign off a staff apartment, and to start making some contacts. I also had my first driving experience both in a van and abroad which, I’m told, I did well with but, I am still feeling a bit nervous. I feel like tomorrow is really the start of it all as we drive over to Meribel; the training ends and the working begins, then it’s back here to Les Gets to help with staff training for the reps, chalet hosts and hotel assistants.
