Maiden career victories for Switxerland’s Patrizia Kummer and Italy’s Roland Fischnaller in Limone Piemonte’s Parallel Slalom. The local fans liming the Marchetto Gorba course had waited since the venue’s appearance on he World Cup circuit in 2007 for an Italian win, and weren’t disappointed.
Both of the winners came through qualifying with the fastest times, but their passage to the finals was not so overwhelming. 23 year old Kummer had managed a Parallel Giant slalom bronze at the last World Championships, but knew that the top podium position could be hers. Her problem had been inconsistency in qualifying – not at Limone Piemonte it wasn’t! Fischnaller collided with a crashed fellow racer, though both men made it to the finish line. In his two-run semifinal he had to make up a 1.06 second deficit on Roland Haldi.
