End of Cheap Ski Flights?

Ryanair - is it the end of cheap ski holiday flights?

With budget airlines facing increasing resistance to their ‘stealth’ charges (luggage charges, online check-in fees etc), a warning shot has been fired at low fares by one of the industry’s leading proponents. ttglive is reporting that Ryanair’s Michael O’Leary believes his company must move away from the “pile it high and sell it cheap” business model.  He believes that, in the current economic climate with rising costs, the airline’s ‘average fares of £33 were unsustainable’.

Last week, O’Leary controversially suggested that regulations should be relaxed in order to allow a single pilot to fly planes. He also indicated that Ryanair may need a less high profile chief executive. However, he also stated that he wanted to see the airline’s fleet double from it’s current fleet of around 200 planes.
