First of all, I’m writing this on a transfer day. Wait, did you get that? I actually have time to write a blog, ON A TRANSFER DAY! Looks like we’re running more quickly than ever as a resort, today’s felt really smooth with plenty of time to catch up on what’s been happening in Cham this week. A lot of this is down to our new rep, Tracey, a South African girl who’s so on it she’s practically on fire.
Talking of fire, it’s been boiling here recently with temperatures hitting 18 degrees earlier in the week, so we’ve all been working on our tans…luckily Chamonix is a pretty high resort so the snow on the hill is still pretty lush, making for sun drenched springtime skiing. Me, Olly and Hollie even went for a ramble in the Paradis de Praz the other day, and enjoyed getting back to nature and playing poosticks…cool, I know.

We had a ‘staff bonding’ night on Wednesday where we all sat down to eat together for the first time in ages, then hit the town – I’m not sure why ‘staff bonding’ is so often synonymous with ‘staff piss up’, but it always seems to work out that way…so a few jaeger bombs later, we were hitting the dance floor in le Toff and pulling some signature moves – lush. Luckily there were no injuries from attempting to dance on the pole which is conveniently located in the middle of the dance floor, which is a risk you always have to take in le Toff.
In other news, Olly is now back in action after a week off – let’s hope we can all stay injury free until the end of the season now! It’s hard to believe we only have a month’s worth of guests left. Admittedly, we’re all feeling a bit knackered now, but it’s still sad knowing you don’t have long left in the mountains. A few of the staff have organised their visas for New Zealand, where they’ll be flying to in the beginning of May to chase the snow and do another winter season. Jealous, me?
It wouldn’t be a Chamonix blog without a weekly epic fail on behalf of one of our hardworking staff members, and this week the prize definitely goes to Josh, who managed to snap the whole top half of his board – it’s the end of a short lived but intense love affair between josh and his beloved snowboard, who have shared some great times together. Alas, Josh, some boards just aren’t built to handle all those gnarly tricks you’ve been doing. Luckily it’s payday soon and another one is on its way in the post – let’s just hope he manages to keep it in one piece.
So as one week ends and another begins we’re all looking forward to the snow that’s forecast for the next few days…bangin. Back soon!
