This weekend sees the start of a tough single-handed yacht race in which our MD James Hardiman will be racing the Ocean Elements racing yacht over 350 miles in a tricky seaway with numerous tidal gates and other complex navigational factors to consider.
The race will last for about 3 days (at sea) and is a very challenging race along the South Coast as competitors will have to battle sleep deprivation and manage an array of headlands, bays, tides, variable winds and all the ingredients to be a mini-Classic solo yacht race.
The race will start off Cowes and will finish at North Head, just outside the Western Solent. Expected start time 14:00 on Saturday 15th July. Yarmouth will be the harbour of choice after the finish.
The Ocean Elements Yacht is a Jeanneau Sunfast 3200 which James campaigns around the Solent from her base in Hamble.
James [Hardiman] is the owner/founder and MD of Alpine Elements Ltd, Ocean Elements and iGOSKI Ltd. He has been racing yachts solo for the last 10 years and has clocked up about 16,000 miles of single handed and double handed racing with numerous [additional] miles of cruising to include Solo Fastnet, (Round Rock), Azab campaign and varies race series with the Solo Offshore Racing Club.
James’ passion lies with sailing (not just skiing!) and he has conveyed that to a high level in his work with Ocean Elements and running an excellent team at his Beach clubs. A programme where he pours his all into… and perhaps why it achieves so many 5* Trip Advisor reviews!
