Snow cannons are now being turned on in ski resorts across the Alps as the recent temperature drop is enabling snow to be stock piled for the all important base layer that will start to form over the next few weeks.

New developments made in the component of Artificial or “cannoned snow” is also helping it crystalise in warmer temps! Artificial or canoned snow is denser than the real thing and so it lasts longer too. “Snowmax” is a protein that provides a nucleate for ice crystals enabling freezing at temperatures around -2 to 3C. In other words it allows canons to create snow in warmer conditions.
