The former British Olympic sailing coach David Robinson, an experienced skier, has died after an avalanche buried him in Val d’Isere. The six person group and their guide, including Mr Robinson’s wife Chrissy, were skiing off piste but were equipped with transceivers and airbags.
The guide, Wayne Watson, was reported by the Press Association as stating that Mr Robinson died on Monday.Mr Watson said “It was one of those things. I have been doing this for about 30 years and we ski off piste seven days a week.” He added “It was a tragic accident.”
