New Scottish ski slope?

A project to develop a new ski area in Scotland that was first considered during the 1980s, is being dusted off. Glencoe opened it’s slopes to the public before Christmas - the earliest for 10 years (see picture). The then Conservative Government shelved plans which would have seen a new ski area on the 1,046m high Ben Wyvis mountain.

Ski Sunday returns to BBC2

Lurching slightly between a 4.45pm and 5.15pm, the alpine fest that is Ski Sunday rag-dolls it’s way back to our screens. The first show (Jan 9th) majors on FIS World Cup skiing from the Swiss resort of Adelboden. There should also be a bit on the ridiculously named ‘Oakley and Shaun White Present Air & Style Beijing 2010’ from back at the beginning of December last year. *Spoiler* If you need the excitement of not knowing who won skip the last paragraph!

This Sunday (Jan 9th) sees the final LG Snowboard FIS World Cup Parallel Slalom, in Bad Gastein, before the World Championships. The final head-to-head roinds will be under floodlights on the Buchben slope, which finsihes in the town centre. It should be spectacular.

The FIS Ski World Cup City Event proves a hit

It looks as if the recent FIS competition in Munich’s Olympic Park went pretty well. The FIS Audi Ski World Cup held it’s first ‘City Event’ in front of a 25,000 crowd, who saw the top 16 male and female racers going head-to-head on a 18 gate Parallel Slalom course.
