Built around a popular harbour, Porto Heli (Port of Eels) is nevertheless a small town. There are lovely sandy beach right in front of the Hotel Nautica Bay, which feature crystal waters and coves of sandy or pebble beaches dotted around much of the Argolis Penninsula. In general the beaches all shelve gently, making them perfect for famiies with youngsters. If you feel the urge there are places to hire motor boats from the quay at Porto Heli. Antique shops to bijou boutiques, ceramics and traditional lacework/fabric specialists to souvenir shops all jostle for position in town. There are at least two ATM machines in the town.
The Greeks are known for their hospitality. Eating out in the local taverna’s is a great experience and by far the most popular option for those who want to try a meal out; simply because the food is so good, very inexpensive and the welcome is so warm. Expect all kinds of local and international favourites, from Moussaka to Pizza / Pasta, and fresh fish to rump steaks, maybe even rabbit! Most meals are served with fries or fresh Greek salads, which are (naturally) a speciality.
Porto Heli is a very buzzing, cosmopolitan resort, helped by the large number of sailors from all over the world and the summer influx of Athenians. There is something for everybody, from traditional tavernas and cocktail bars to late night clubs and more chilled venues. The Nautica Bay Hotel is near enough to the action for it to not be a slog to get there but, far enough away that there is no disruption! Many will prefer just to relax and enjoy the comforts of our hotel and some of the quieter bars nearby, but for those that like a party Porto Heli has plenty to offer.
