Windsurf Holidays Vassiliki

Vassiliki in Greece is without doubt the windsurf capital of Europe, and offers the most consistent wind which blows gently in the morning before kicking up into a Force 4-7 in the afternoons like clock work most every day! Windsurf Lessons & Hire
Complimentary windsurf tuition is provided for 5 days of your week, along with windsurf and rig hire. Rig sizes range from 3.5m to 8m and kids boards with 1 metre sails also available. Lessons are 2 hrs morning and 2 hrs afternoon with support boat and in groups of 8-15 per instructor. You may decide whether to take part or not. Lessons are available 5 days a week (maybe 4 days in busy periods).

How the wind works
The wind conditions of Vass are a phenomenon but have remained a mystery to experts and scientists for years.  No studies have been conclusive enough to explain how this amazing thing happens - so we just all get on and make best use of it!

The morning will see a Force 1 – 2 onshore breeze arrive at about 10am, which is absolutely ideal for lessons and novice sailors or expert skills training, tricks and big sail handling.

The afternoon sea breeze fills in at about 2-3pm and brings a cross shore breeze - force 4 to 7. The best months for wind are May,  June, July, August and September but April and October can also bring good winds too - and the benefit of fewer people on the water.

Water state
WIth a short fetch to Vassiliki bay, and the shelter it provides - the water remains very flat throughout the day . Even the slight wind chop that develops during the late afternoon is very predictable and not too much of a bother, in fact quite useful for getting airtime for the experts! The mornings will see glassy conditions - perfect for beginners and fun boats or sea kayaks – all of which we have on offer at our hotel.

You may also try Lake Garda for windsurfing. Garda offers some of the most exhilarating lake-windsurfing in Europe and the enormity of the lake attracts sailors from around the world. We also offer windsurfing in Les 2 Alpes on a much smaller lake. If windsurfing is the prime activity you are looking for on holiday then Lake Garda really is the destination!

Beginner Windsurfing
Our learning centre in Vassiliki and Lake Garda offers 1,2 or 3 or 6 day beginner courses with rig rental. You can also do a 1 week course but often just 3 days of lessons is ample to then go it alone. Their expert tuition will help boost the learning curve from day one! Lake Garda offers the perfect environment for beginner or expert sailors.

Windsurfing General
Windsin both Vassiliki, Greece and Garda,  Italy tend to settle over the course of the morning, allowing novices and beginners to windsurf in the relative safety of a non tidal lake. Alternatively you may be an expert sailor, keen to hone your skills in the thrilling winds that the mountains can create. Lake Garda and Vassiliki offer some of the finest windsurfing in Europe and within some of the most spectacular surroundings as winds funnel down the lake from lunch time onwards. WInds are quite calm in the morning so what ever your skill level - wind surfing can be enjoyed by all ages and abilities on lake Garda and in Vass.
