Summer Skiing

The Glacier offers 25 kms of pisted runs during June, July and August.

Snow is not something that is usually associated with summer! However at our high altitude resort in Tignes it is possible to Ski and Board on the Glacier at 3550m from July through to September

The Highest Glacier in Europe
Tignes is set at the foot of Europe’s highest ski-able Glacier which offers around 27km of slopes and some good ski conditions, with powder snow reported even in July!

Six ski lifts open up some of Europe’s best skiing and boarding between the hours of 07.30am to 1.30pm. The Glacier closes in the afternoon leaving skiers to seek out alternative activities or relaxation in the hot sunshine.

The Conditions
Fresh snow always falls on the Glacier over the course of the summer thus keeping the snow levels nicely topped up. The mornings generally begin with hard snow which will remain in very good shape for the first few hours. Around mid to late morning, the snow is at it’s best and will begin to soften but remain in very good shape. The snow does then progressively soften but remains firm enough to use until the afternoon.

Snowboarders
The Glacier also has one of the largest and most impressive terrain parks in Europe. It attracts visiting Pro’s from around the World, and there are regular festivals, instruction and music offering beginners and advanced riders a fun atmosphere

Beginners
Novice skiers and boarders can be accommodated and lessons start at £15. You will need approx 3 lessons.

Families
The ski and snowboard facilities are also very well suited to families and provide a breadth of slopes to appeal to all. Lessons and ski / board hire can be arranged.
